Just swapped in my b20 vtec and car idles at 3k....any inputs??
Like the title says i just dropped in my b20 in my 99 hatchback. I am currently running JE 12:5 CR pistons, eagle rods, supertech valvetrain and skunk 2 pro 2 cams and cam gears. I used the em1 engine harness so every sensor was plug and play. I also jumped the ecu to a obd1 p72. My question is when i first turned on the car, it idles at 3k. i have one vacuum line that is not plugged in on the manifold. It is where th purge valve goes, but since my motor is obd 1 i see no point of plugging it in. Well if i start to cover that plug on the manifold the idle starts decreasing, but if i close it all the way the motor turns off....any ideas?? I tried to be a specific as i could but ill try to post pictures of my problem asap thx

you didnt plug in a vauum line so you have a vacuum leak. why are you using a gsr ecu? did you use a gsr head and intake manifold?

Im guessing you have bigger injectors also..
Your idle is going to be really f'd up until you get a tune.
Not even the least bit driveable either.

yea i havew some rc 370's, but i used stock injectors to turno on the car. I guess im going to end up towing it to my tuner since i guess the idle is going to be crazy high till a/f ratios are in tact.

my del sol has a 95' b18c and it idles at 4000rpm when it's cold it stays cold for a long time in winter but still drive. it's just a little jerky in town. have you even warmed up the motor yet, that might be what it idles at when cold like mine. but I'm not gonna lie my car needs tuning to between 2900 and 4100 rpm it cuts out and when warm it dies a stoplights. hope it helps, sorry of it doesn't, by

Ha nevermind that... I forgot about the time i tried driving my car half a mile to get it tuned when it was tuned on 450s and i had put on a vtec head and 680s. It ran like total **** and if i would of been in any sort of traffic i would be screwed. Try it out and see if it drives okay. But mine didnt.
