just swapd a 94 ls into my 93 dx ej1 now white smelly smoke
hey i just got the motor from a friend of mine it was running good in his car but he got hit by a diesel truck and sold me the motor i swapd everything from his car except the cat..got it from another friend of mines will there is ne cel it runs fine but it just has a smelly white smoke and its thick warmd up the car drove it a little and its still there...and it does not really smoke much till its warmd up thanks

i dont know i thought it was good i drove it a couple days be for it got hit... so you think its a bad motor? cause it did get hit by a disiel truck....

where was it hit (front, side, rear), did the car cut off after being hit, how long since the HG was replaced, wp, etc

idk bout head gasket it was hit in the front driver side it was still running n what do u mean by wp?

maybe the cat you have is bad. by wp i meant water pump, and to be honest, i wouldnt have purchased a motor that was hit from the front and totaled out by a pickup. how does the exhaust smell?

im not sure i cant really describe it i dont think its the water pump it might be the cat the muffler shop i went to told me it cant be the cat but my dad told me its possible

and yeah i just did somestuff check the spark plugs and the were really wet from oil so i cleand it and still smoke is coming out seems like less and it also smells kinda sweet

i took the valve cover off and didnt see no discoloration..and no i did not change anything due to the fact it was running good a couple of days before it crashed..my friendsaid he did change the spark plug though

What did your cat converter come off of the same car? if it was used or different then there might be coolant in the exhaust still burnin off.

yeah the cat is off some other car im not sure i just took it from my friends house hhaha..but yeah the smoke is not as much now im hoping it is just the coolant burning off

let it run for awhile. it will either burn off keep smoking or coolant will mix with the oil

i have let it run for a while it kinda stop but i can still smell it i let it run for about a total of close to a hour so far

definately sounds like a head gasket. i would watch your radiator reservoir and if you have to add coolant in a couple days, then that's wat it is.

thanks ill keep an eye out if its the headgasket but the smoke has pretty much gone away just waiting on the smell to go away and hopefully i can take it to get ref within the next couple of days and it passes

well yeah after i tried pressure washing my motor with the degreaser it didnt turn out to good with my water hose at home lol so i took it to the car wash and it was smoking again could it be from the degreaser? but i did let the motor sit for a couple of hours

okay can i get some help?? hahah well anyways i checkd my spark plug again and they were wet from oil and check the dipstick and now its dry is there any chance that the block is no good at all? i got a referee appointment on monday...needa get this fix and if its bad would it be something that is rebuildable?

haha i failed my ref today it failed emissions and they tripd cause i left the map on the firewall on and my cat was the wrong cat with 2 o2 sensors but for the white smoke it was a wrong vacuum line now it save way more gas then b4 motor is pretty strong too when im at a rolll and floor it it breaks traction well atleast on friday night thats what was happening
