Just started my B20 swap for the first time and.........
She fired up in like two turns...
I do have one question though....
Initially there was alot of smoke and burn off of residues and what not on the engine, soon it was purring like a kitten. Then I did a quick rev from idle to about 2300 rpm, when I let off the gas there was a little puff of blue smoke out the tail pipe?
Should I be alittle concerned about the puffs of smoke everytime I rev it or do the rings need time to seat?? what do you guys think??
It's a fully built B20 sleeved from GE to 85mm. Low compression Wiseco pistons, Cometic head gasket. New gaskets everywhere and new valve gasket thingies too(forgot the name of those little guys?) hmmm

all the motor that were rebuilt and turned on for the first time blew some smoke at first.
after a little bit it cleared up.
you see anything now

Hey thanks for the reply!!
It doesn't smoke at idle... only when revved quick from idle to 2300 or so.
I haven't been able to drive it around yet since I'm waitiing for a hydro clutch line to come in. So I've only started it and let it idle with the occasional rev.
How long does it take for the "average" rings to seat??

Ive read that the rings seat best when the motor is under a load, so you might wanna hold of on running it till you can drive it. But thats only what ive heard and im in no way an expert so dont hold me too it.

The oil your motor is burning is normal all fresh motors will do this for alittle while. Your rings just probably haven't seated yet. Just give the whole motor a while to get broken in and it should be fine. Just don't rev it to hard, or drive it hard until you get the motor broke in. Well hope this helps.

its probably just some assembly lube burning off......from wat i read, if you want the rings to seat tightly then run the car hard for the first couple miles but dont quote me .....anyways, just remember to change the oil in like 300-400 miles after driving it bcuz the motor is full of assembly lube and maybe bits of metal that can hurt the motor
