Just a quick rant..anyone else agree?
Why in the world do some guys say that they change their oil every 1500 miles???? I see a post that the guy insists he changes his Mobil 1 every 1500 miles? That stuff goes at least 5k miles. Whats the deal?? Can anyone enlighten me? Is it just so the oil looks clean on the dipstick? Anyone?

my oil gets changed quite often. but i work in a shop and oil changes cost me like 7 bucks. i wouldn't be dumping 40 dollars worth of oil every 1500 miles though.

my cars get it every three to five thousand like reccomended by ford and honda... although technically my air box says every 7500 miles, and i'm supposed to change my filter every other time so... lol yeah i'd say if you are beating the living **** out of your car no more than 3k between oil changes. other wise 5k is good ya?

Some people are ballers and I'm not one of them....lol
If the person tracks the car and beats it like Chris Brown then yeah after a few races or so then I would change it but damn that is a lot of $$. His local auto parts store must love this guy.

my thoughts. I thought 3,000 miles was over kill with synthetic oil. On a booster car or high HP or track used sure. DD with getting on it every now and then nah go to 5-7k.

with synthetics the only thing that can typically hurt them is dirt(crap, crud, metal flakes.......) so a filter change every 3k is fine on synthetic DDs up to around 7-10k. even with a turbo........as long as the oil isnt getting crazy hot........it shouldnt burn synthetics.
1500 miles between oil changes is stupid unless your job is beating the hell outta ur car.

Yea 1500 is wayy too low. I change mine every 2500-3500 Miles, and im boosted, beat on it sometimes, and use conventional.

Just curious why some people think it's necessary to change oil so frequently. That would be like changing your brake pads when they were at 75% left, or changing tires with half the tread still remaining. It just doesn't make any sense to me, unless you're into wasting money. Like I said, it's just a rant.

7k-9k fully synthetic for my DD. ****. Me spend another $80 for 5 quarts + filter every 1,500. I'd rather take that money and buy some Taco bell burritos. Lmaoo

7,500 mile oil change is for vehicles that are driven under ideal circumstances. What most of us think of as "normal" driving is actually "severe service" driving. This includes frequent short trips (less than 10 miles, especially during cold weather), stop-and-go city traffic driving, driving in dusty conditions (gravel roads, etc.), and driving at sustained highway speeds during hot weather. For this type of driving, which is actually "severe service: driving, the recommendation is to change the oil every 3,000 miles or six months,
For maximum protection, most oil companies say to change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles or three to six months if it's synthetic or non-synthetic and regardless of what type of driving you do<-- what i follow
