Default Just picked up my new 96civic.

Well just picked up my 96civic its a DX weak BUT best part is the 5speed, which was the main reason i bought the car. but its actualy in good condition so im gonna just repair it. i was gonna just steal all the 5speed parts to do my 5speed swap BUT its in suprisingly good condition and dirt cheap so im just gonna repair it and drive it as my project civic. only thing it needs mechanicaly is typical timing belt swap just for the hell of it... and a upper O2 sensor. and most fluids changed of course with a new car...

trying to just get a new radiator support, impact bar, and i also need a radiator. get that swaped in and then the car will be able to move on its own power at least.

my first mod to the car reverse open hood.LMFAO

and HELL YA the car is pretty riced right now... another [racial pejorative] that thought they could modify there car! turd muffler just welded on stock pipes WITH a huge hole in the pipe! some stupid flame stickers, pin striping on the car, all the mexican music cds in the car, also a cheap porno dvd case (no dvd tho)LOL also atleast 1 dozen of those TREE air fresheners.LOL also some beer in the trunk. LMFAO
and HELL NO im not gonna drink it!
o and my personal favorite (WHAT WAS HE THINKING) a GLUE ON TRAILER REFLECTOR for that true [racial pejorative] JDM look. hahahhahaha
the idiot couldnt even put the sticker on the liscence plate on it the right way. hahahaha

also idoit instaled stereo! antena wire must not be pluged in, and amplifier power wire ran thru door jam, rcas ran thru the center of the car. and some gay @ss antena on the back of the roof. it was glued on!

also found previous wreck probably reason for rebuilt title. not a bad repair just not smoothed over like it shoulda been. i gotta grind it down and make sure its actual metal and just not slapped on bondo/paint.

also anybody with 96-00 coupe taillights they wanna trade for these rice lights...? PM me.

this is what it looked like when i bought it.

i got most the bad stuff removed but not the AC condensor just yet. i need more duct tape so i can seal the lines.

but next mod is definatly razor blades and GOO GONE to remove all the pin striping, HONDA stickers. and a hardcore cleaning!

ya its funny as hell! just a glue on reflector! thats just to lame!
i need to find out whats leaking on the car because there is TONS of just oily crap all over the engine bay!!!!! somethings gotta be leaking pretty bad! hopefully i can track down the leak after i clean the engine bay.

i really want to get this radiator support replaced and a new radiator but im trying to get a shiping discount on the radiator suport and bumpers impact bar. then i can get the car moving on its own power fully.
right now it will start up if i jump start it. im charging the battery now and hopefully it tests good and maybe it was just dead battery or bad conection. but i dont want it to run very long since no coolant in the motor! so ive only ran the motor for about 1min so far. but so far runs smooth. just a CEL light due to the top O2 sensor wires being tore loose.

actualy theres not awhole lot of work to do really...
only some what tuff part is replacing the radiator support in front. everything else bolts up
for only 700bucks its well worth that for just the 5speed parts. i originaly wanted just the 5speed parts to make my nice 99ex a manual but since the condition is actualy pretty good on this civic im just gonna fix the civic and drive it. i wont paint it till next year most likely it does have minor dings here and there. and slight hail damage on the roof but i might be able to pop most of them out. if not fully just alittle sand and bondo and sand smooth to lay some new paint down on the whole car.

The chasis looks dented by the door hinge. Bad times.

I would throw it on a frame machine and see if everything is straight. No point going through the trouble of welding on a new support if the car is crooked.

the door post has already lined up from a previous accidnt. the damage was just done in the front end. the fenders still lined up....[

QUOTE=raphael]not to be an *** but unless you paid like 300 maax its not worth it and your going to spend alot of money on this on. GL[/QUOTE]

i still feel that i got a great deal on it... i paid 700bucks for it. the motor does start right up and it drives perfect. good motor/ good syncros so far/ good clutch so far. for just the 5speed parts the cars easily worth the 700bucks!

i got all the tools id ever need to do this job so its really not a problem. only problem is geting cash to buy the body panels i need brand new. because i want to do a 99-00 front end upgrade onto this 96. ive already got headlights, grill from being extra parts from my 99 i already got

ive figured after all the new body panels and paint id have ruffly 700bucks more into fixing the front end. another 2-300bucks in radiator/ ac condensor W/recharge AC, timing belt. maybe O2 sensor. i went thru far more work than this on my old 94 civic ex with the blown motor. only thing i didnt seem to touch on that car was the body work. i didnt want to go thru with all that sanding and it didnt have AC but i rebuilt most the car/ new motor all new oil seals, clutch, shifter linkages, most the rear seized up suspension- just about every bushing was seized!

BUT ANYWAYS. I BELIEVE I HAVE IT ALL UNDER CONTROL....
this accident was done high on the front. the bottom of the radiator suport is straight and not damaged, not even the bumper impact bolt location was damaged on the body.

thanks. i was gonna buy a new radiator suport first but i want this thing moving on its own power. so today i bought a new radiator and hoses and gonna just rig up the radiator for right now, it still has the lower mounts but not the top mount shouldnt be to hard with just alittle rope or zip ties for temp holder.... i wanna run the motor more to test it out.
gonna go rig it up tonight.

the damage is definatly repairable! i just wanna check out the motor alittle more before i buy all the body parts for it. if the motor is messed up or burning oil i might just ditch the whole rebuild and just gut the bitch and slap the 5speed into my 99civic. BUT as long as the motor runs and drives good then shes gonna get rebuilt and driven! i can probably hold off on fixing the AC for awhile. ill just unplug the compressor and seal the hoses really good after i remove the lines.

my only curious part is how large the new radiator support really is and where its all welded/bolted. ive only cut out the middle top bar and dont want to cut out anymore until im sure how large the new piece is. i dont want to cut out to much. LOL

DAM IT!!!!!! just put in the new radiator started it up let it idle for awhile to warm up while i will the water up and almost as soon as i put the radiator cap on IT STARTS BLOWING SMALL BUBBLES on the top of the plastic radiator right around where the upper mount goes around! THIS SUCKS so now i gotta wait for it to cool down overnight, drain all the water out of it. (AT LEAST i used water right now to flush the system decently and after i replaced the front radiator support i was gonna drain/blow out most i can and fill with honda antifreeze.) so at least i didnt loose any good antifreeze with this crap!

tho motor runs good no bad smoke. only when reven up high.
tho after warmed up the motor does have a surge, typical honda serge. have to pull the thing off and clean it good and hopefully its just dirty or maybe its the bubbles in the system since it has a pin hole in the radiators top.

but other than the annoying fart can on the rear and maybe a really slow idle(probably just needs throttle cable adjusted slightly i wont change it till i get the upper O2 sensor replaced and a good radiator instaled.

ONE QUESTION THO "HOW THE HELL do i turn off these Canadian running lights??? LOL at first i was like WTF the headlights wont turn off... it has a blue HIGH BEAM indicator light in the cluster thats ON unless i turn the headlights to LOW beams.

tomorow after returning the radiator ill have to wait for them to get another one in or something because they only had one in stock.
heres a video of the bubbles being blown.
http://s40.photobucket.com/alb...1.flv

and a video of ANOYING fart can! it does have a nice quarter size hole right before the fart can but still... its definatly gonna be replaced with a stock muffler. to quite it down. my last 5speed i put a obx twin loop muffler on it which was better than the fart can BUT it was still alittle to loud for my real liking so im just gonna go back stock and just listen to the air intake.
http://s40.photobucket.com/alb...2.flv

tomorow ill bust out the razor blade and shave all the stickers off the car and pull pin striping off. and start cleaning out the interior.

ok today i replaced the radiator AGAIN. and this time no leaks and a perfect idle now!

i also kinda spliced the damaged O2 wires and so far no CEL light BUT then again its definatly not gonna hold since i could not get solder to stick and the wires on the sensor only stick out MAYBE 1/8-1/4inch way to small. i just have to buy a new one eventualy.

also bladed off the RICE stickers off most of the car just have a few more of those stupid flame stickers on the paint but the bugs outside started to eat me up so i quite for the night.

also just ordered the new radiator support and bumper impact bar. and now im not sure BUT i got a few people telling me as long as the car has a bumper and headlights/turn signals its legal to drive on the road.LOL so i might just get those 2 parts installed and drive around town with it as-is.LOL just to go get some food or gas or something else.LOL
HOPEFULLY the parts come before this weekend and i can replace them this weekend, since im off work this weekend

i really want to get the car on the road so i can drive it and have some fun... i can only have so much fun driving it around the yard and yanking the Ebrake and turning hard.LOL just screwen around alittle, tho clutchs pressure plate seems alittle noisy but i asume its just because the clutch pedal hasnt been used for quite some time now! hopefully its just alittle rust that will free up and noise go away when i press the clutch. i also gotta bleed the clutch system. the fluid looks really dirty so gotta suck the old crap out and flush it good.

i wish i knew the clutch life left on the car BUT no way to know unfortunatly. at least i can do it myself when it does start to give out. good thing is a clutch kit is cheap!

o ya and tomorow im gonna also swap out the cluster for a EX cluster i have but i will keep the canadian speedo for right now. only downfall about the EX cluster is the gas gauge needle is snaped off... so ill have to buy another ex cluster with good temp/gas gauge needles.LOL
but at least for now ill have a tach to actualy see the rpms. and dont just go by the sound.

also i got the radio working right now. it was just a simple antena wire was unpluged...

From a couple of those pics that car does not look straight. I would do as the other guy said and get that thing pulled ASAMFP...

Tip of my hat to you for trying to bring this one back from the dead. Good luck.

i asure you that it looks straight. the fender and door lined up good with no washers under the bolts either only thing was the passenger fender was buckled alittle from the accident pushing it into the door enough so door wouldnt open fully.
for the most part she is straight. i think i only have one area to worry about and thats the upper passenger inner fender. from the pictures ive been looking at that needs to be pointing straight. its folded in alittle on the tip...

BUT i dont believe that is the main support so shouldnt be a problem to hammer it back out once i cut the radiator support out.

that doesnt look serious at all... the impact was really above the frame rails. thats just thin sheet metal there. as soon as i get the new radiator support ill cut the old one out and bend the inner fender back out good. and weld that part last.
