price is $3200 shipped. Got this from IAS...waiting on a couple more places for pricing. Does that sound bout right to u guys? Also, any of you socal guys know of a reputable shop that wil do the install making sure all the sensors etc are plugged in? I want this swap to pass BAR inspections and smog so no funny business under the hood.

TIA

Wow, I'm in the process of selling mine for $2500. I guess the guy buying it is getting a pretty good deal. It's cool though, I'm making out pretty good too.

yeah he's getting a great deal from you!

very true though bout IAS i've heard nothing but great things regarding this company. I'll see what the other local shops have to offer and decide from there.

that's a lot even from a reputable shop, why not try HMO???

you can get a b18c1 for that price plus $250 more shipped

I believe you are correct. A good complete USDM B16 will cost more than a JDM B16. You are doing the smart thing in order to pass BAR emissions. If you can save up a little more, I'd look into a B18C1 swap from IAS. Believe me, you will be much happier having a little more displacement and torque.

Thanks...I might just do that...I emailed larry back at IAS to see what the pricing is. As much as I would like to spend less and get more power...I would like to know that at the end of the day I will be legit in the eyes of the smog people here in California

listen man...i paid the same exact thing for my a2 from them and it was worth every single penny. the guy who did my install said it was the most complete swap he had ever seen...it was literally plug and play. its not the most powerful engine out there...that issue has been beaten to death around here...but it made my car a hell of a lot more fun to drive. and next summer i'll boost it

taht's what i want to hear it's my daily so as much as I want to make it crazy fast etc i dont want to pour too much money into that. i have the other money pit to consider as well. so right now a b16 will be night and day difference compared to that 109hp hammster motor that's under the hood

I thought all JDM and USDM B16A2 are the same. Dont they all came from Japan, does the late SI B16a2 coupe imported from Japan too? I thought all Honda B-series motors are built in Japan.....or I can be wrong.

the only difference that I can think of is the addt'l sensors and smog equipment that would probably explain why the JDM motors have more HP than the USDM counterparts. But I'm sure there's more than just that.

No, usdm motors are made in Ohio of all places and jdm motors in japan. JDM and USDM motors have a lot of minute differences.

so you are going to run a 99-00 B16A2 with OBD-2.5 system into a 97 civic with obd-2 wiring...I believe you may run into the problem that the actual wiring may not be plug and play...pleae someone give info on this since I may do the same in a 1998 dx civic..now u can run a 97 del sol ECU..and run your stock dx wiring and just add the VTEC wire and change the IACV to 2 wire sensor from the stock DX 3 wire..
