Default Just got JDM ITR tranny. 4.40 FD now............

I want to know what clutch , flywheel, pressure plate, ETC to use. I want something that has good clamping force but want a stock or near stock pedal feel to engage the clutch. I don't want the clutch to chatter, and I would like reliability. A good long lasting clutch. What do you guys suggest? Also don't want to spend a arm and a leg just want to know what is good and what works.

You might consider Exedy with their 9.2lb flywheel. The pedal feel is practically stock, and it grabs really well. Mike at www.coximport.com has great deals on these clutches!

Okay first of all Exedy clutches are weak and not much better than stock. Argue all you want to but I've got numerous friends whose cars I drive and they have said it's not much better than stock. Most who brag about it being better are probably coming off stock slipping clutches.

Clutchmaster clutches suck *****. Why would I say this? Because while they grip pretty damn good their design is pure bullshit because their springs pop out of the disc very prematurely. I work at a shop and have seen this at least a dozen times in the past two years. The clutch disc can have tons of wear left but their shitty springs pop out of their casings and then bounce around and chew up/ruin the pressure plate and flywheel.

ACT? Kick-*** clutches. My fiancee has had hers for 2 years now and it still grabs hard as hell. Shift quick and chirp second and even 3rd on 195-50-15 180 treadwear Michelin Pilot SX/GT tires. I've also onwed 2 and loved them. Stiff-*** pedal but very easy to drive. If my fiancee' can drive one in Atlanta coty traffic then so could any of you. Get the Xtreme P.P and "hybrid-lined" street disc.

If you want a hellified kick-*** *****-out clutch then I recommend ClutchNet. I have their double diaphram P.P and 6-puck spring-hub disc. Locks up like no other clutch. This clutch is indestructable damn it! I've dragged the car numerous times launching out at 8000-8500rpm on slicks and the clutch never once whimpered. I did break other tranny-related items though because the clutch is just strong as an ox. Stiff pedal and more on-off than an ACT, but it's bad as hell.

Flywheels? No comment. Haven't had one personally yet, so I won't speculate. Do a search in the ITR forum though and flywheels have been debated a shitload. I will say not to believe the "aluminum flywheels suck" bullshit though.

Good luck!

Hmmm, are you guys thinking what I'm thinking? ....Nahhhhhhhhh.

But anyway, I've heard somewhere that the stock Integra Type R clutch is pretty good, just as good as some aftermarket clutches. Can anyone inform me on this one?

I've had an ACT for over a year now. And I love it. All of my friends have the same clutch and I've never heard anything bad about it.

btw, JDM ITR trannies have a 4.785 FD...what's the deal yo?

JDM ITR trannies go as follows:
96-7 with 15" wheels = 4.4FD (same as USDM/CTR)
98-01 with 16" wheels (5bolt - 36mm axles) used the = 4.786FD to compensate for larger rolling diameter and higher wheel weight, also changed where 3-5 gears.

as far as clutches, I had 3 puck Mugen, ITR, and GSR clutch in various motors, from tests ITR and GSR isn't all that bad, in drag racing it slips a little but nothing major and for under $200 its not all that bad.

Tom on the clutch net with a dual diaphragm pressure plate. I am sure the pedal would be a little stiffer then what I am looking for. But the Single Diaphragm pressure plate will probably work fine. Also on the 6 puck Sprung disk does it have any chatter driving around on the street. Also on the single pressure plate do you happen to know what the clamping pressure is?

If pedal pressure is a concern then just get the ACT. The ACT is pretty much fool-proof.

My clutch set-up is really hard-core and I've actually seen a flywheel wear out before the clutch disc ecven got any wear on it!

Yeah there's a tad bit of chatter, but it's nothing like driving an unsprung hub clutch.
