Default just fitted an b18c6 into eg5 and im throwing a cel 22 vtec pressure valve

hi there ive just completed my swap i used the b18c6 1999 engine harness and kept my civic eg5 chassis harness both cars are from uk and RHD all went well all plugs plugged in and all mounts lined up i started the engine and the cel came on as it should then went off then came back on again i started it up and it runs fine then i checked the code and its 22 vtec pressure valve im using the ITR purge tank as you should as the B18 doesnt have the vacume on the throttle body

pls note at the moment im using the standard B16a2 P30 ECU im going to get an obd1 remapped ecu of kenji will this cure that problem or do i have to do something first. wheres that civic forum legend i bet he knows

also pls note i removed the engine from the integra my self and there were no cel's at that point and it was running perfectly

ive got my old vtec pressure solenoid on my b16 still are these the same and is it worth swapping them to try?

hi there ive just been looking at my 2 engines the ITR doesn't have the vtec pressure switch located in the same place. On my B16 the vtec pressure valve is under the vtech solenoid on the ITR head its got the vtec solenoid but no pressure switch WTF is it located somewhere else or what?

i think this will have something to dp with me throwing a vtec oil pressure switch code 22 as my vtec unit on my b18c6 doesnt seem to have 1

this first photo is of my b16a2 with me pointing at the vtec oil pressure switch

this photo is me pointing at where the vtec oil pressure switch is supposed to be on my b18c6 it looks like this is how it has come from the factory

the jdm swaps DO NOT have a vtec pressure switch, you need to ground the vtec pressure wire to your chasis of the car and the code will go away and allow vtec to enguage....i swapped an 00 jdm itr swap into my sol....i had that same problem for a day'

i just tapped and grounded the vtec pressure switch wire..i believe its orange w/silver but look it up to confirm'

enjoy vtec

btw: swapping ecu's isnt gonna fix it

also, your better off taping it near the ecu, i had mine tapped under the hood and during 120+mph pulls it would sometimes still throw the code because the ground wasnt very good and all the air going through the bumper would jank it up, i relocated it to right @ the ecu and no problems sense for over a year now'

your swap dosnt have the switch, no jdm itr swaps do, how-ever your ecu is looking for the switch and sense its not there obviously throwing a code, with that said you can either A disable it by ground the wire or b) disable the code with certain fuel management like hondata and so fourth'

that "is" how you fix it, only other way is to just remove the code/cell # through hondata or a similar fuel managment system'

with that code 22 in effect vtec also wont enguage'

have fun, your gonna like that swap !!

If you want to trick a USDM (which looks for a VTEC PS) into thinking a VTEC is present on a JDM engine all you need to do is this:

Run a jumper wire from the VTEC PS location at the ECU to the VTEC solenoid location.

On an OBD1 vehicle you need to jump A4 to D6. For my overseas customers I run this wire inside of the ECU for a clean look.
