Default Just finished B16a2 swap. First start question.

Is there anything special I have to do for the first start, like a way I need to prep. the oil pump? or do I just try firing her up?

Thanks.

With everything hooked up right (oil, fuel, timing) it should start up just fine. Otherwise, it'll just die.

I hand crank it counter clockwise, than i unplug the dizi and crank it over for a while with the starter.

anyways,
prime the fuel system a few times(put the key to on but dont start the engine)
just to get fuel up to the injectors to help it start a bit.

dont forget to get your ignition timing set proper once you get it running.

:-\ no dice, turned over, but wouldn't start. Tried it a couple of times. Pulled off valve cover, and timing is def. in line...

any suggestions? I tried giving it a lil gas, and it seemed to take it, but still would stay running. seemed like it wanted to though

No check engine light, I have spark and I can hear fuel pump run.

Just doesn't seem to want to grab.

Would it be an issue that I lowered compression to 9:1 and upgraded injectors, but don't have turbo on it yet? or would it still start?

Is push starting a good idea...?

Bad coil in the distributor, at least that's what was wrong with mine. If you have a buddy with a spare dist. put it on your motor and see what happens. Worked for me.
Also, I just swapped coils from my d-series to my b-series dist and it works great now.

crank the engine with the wires not connected. To make sure you have oil in the engine.
