Default Just Did Oil Change Nothing on Dipstick

Car is a 96 EK with a b18b with about 120K miles on it

I just did an oil change and added the factory recommended 4 quarts. Started the car checked for leaks ( which there were none ) then i checked the level on the dip stick there was no oil on the dip stick.

First i thought i had the wrong dipstick but when i went to the dealership and compared mine to the dealers it was the same length.

Car parked over night no oil on the ground.

any suggestions H-t?

Pour in another 1/2 - 1 quart and see what the dipstick says.

Has this happened before? Is the correct dipstick in the engine?

OE oilpan? boosted at all?
Any of those types of modifications can require more oil in the system than an OEM build.

Dumb question, but I have to ask just to make sure. Did you start the car for about 15-30 seconds for the oil to cycle through after you did the oil change?

Wouldn't that cause the oil level to be higher, not lower, after a change? (If he didn't start he car, which it sounds like he did)

Yeah it would, but like I said it's a dumb question. It's happened before which is why I asked. If there aren't any leaks I wouldn't worry about it so much unless you're burning oil. My motor did the same thing and I swear the next day it was at level. Let it sit for the day and check it again tomorrow. Just listen to the motor and make sure no unusual noises occur.

Wait a few hours and check again, sometimes when you start it for a few minutes it does not settle back to the pan.

Might have been answered before, but is the car on a level surface?

Check that the dipstick tube is fully seated. Make sure the car is on level ground.
