Just came back from smog!

Took it to a garage that does smogs in town.. The car i bought didnt pass somg! He said it wouldnt pass because the check engine lights on, the intake was for a different car, no cat and the headers didnt the carb sticker on it.

He gave me a number for a bar ref but he thinks it still wont pass.

Any ideas or advice in how to pass a smg with what ive got? or know anyone? LOL

Thanks!

Yeah, you repair as needed/indicated. Or you find someone that will overlook visual but I'm guessing you're in CA since you stated "CARB" sticker. You'll more or less fail anyway without a catalytic convertor.

Yea, i live in cali. I wish i knew someone. I just checked the vin and its passed smog 7 out of 7.. The guy i bough it from said he knew a guy that passes his smog but i try to get a hold of the guy who sold me the car and hes not responding or replying back. Its got a B16 btw and i read somewhere to tell em it was from a del sol/civic and i mentioned it but the smog tester said the engine needed to be newer and mines from a 94? im guessing.. My hatch is a 97. I shouldve said it was from a 99-00 civic but didnt think of it at the time.. Guess ill have to buy the oem stuff and try again. i spoke to a bar rep and nothing..

im sure there are TONS of tuning shops in cali you could go to one and ask. Im 100% sure you're not the only one running w/o a cat or other emmisions components. That's what I did and we have pretty strict rules for emmisons In Ontario(Canada). Not cat or evap system for me.

Yea. I'm new here and just moved out here. I just got a hold of what seems like a smog station that'll pass me. Wish me luck! Ha

This whole discussion about illegal smogs will get this thread locked.

Ontario does not have strict emissions rules from what I recall. Plug into the scanner and check for codes and see if all the readiness monitors have been set. California on the other hand has absolutely ridiculous rules.

Yes, but the rules a pretty lenient compared to California's, not great, but it could be worse. Luckily we still have nothing here.

I live in Ontario and the emissions aren't that strict..

If you can't pass, go to Brampton. Someone would be happy to be bought off for a clean sheet...

Christ, back home up north we don't even have it..

Thanks for the info guys! The guy I bought it from had a guy, and illegal smog. Still in the system it's smogged. Went to the DMV and got the title transferred and a very kind lady exempt me from the smog, just paid for a transferring fee and got that squared away. In another 2 years I gotta go back. (:

Why would you fail for a CEL? A CEL doesnt always mean a safety or emissions issue.

Re: Just came back from smog!

i would honestly just go get what you need done. go get the a cat (like 40$) go to your local junk yard and grab a set of headers of another honda and the intake shouldnt matter. switch everything out real quick get the check engine light turned off and go get it smogged yo. and once your done switch everything back
