just bought ls tranny for $100...sound legit?
i know it is a pretty low price for a b series hydro tranny, and im kinda wondering if he has phucked me. it looks ok, but idk how to just look at the tranny and tell if it is any good. he told me he was gonna build a hatch (he also has a b series vtec head, ls block, block guard, cam gears, things like that) but never found one cheap enough. everything came out of a wrecked teg, and i was just wondering if there was any to possibly tell if i got jewed or if it is a great trans WITHOUT throwing it in and hoping for the best. any help would be appreciated.

Definately. When ever you buy a used transmission from some one else, even that from a junk yard is a roll of dice. You really never know what you're going to get.
I take it you currently have the transmission? You can do a small visual check on it by looking at everything inside, and making sure nothing is chipped, or grinded. But with even that, doesn't gaurentee anything.

Honestly you should make sure if the tranny is legit first before you bought it. Stolen parts will get you into trouble.

nah stolen parts around here are unheard of. and i guess i will have to wait til i put it in to see if it is phucked or not. if it is, i would like to do somethin like custom gears from a b16, gsr, and ls trans and merge them into one. something like 1st & 2nd b16, 3rd & 4th gsr, and keep the ls 5th. but that prob wouldnt be good for boost either way which is possibly what im planning. but either way i figured $100 was a good deal. i havent ever met the guy but he knows some people i know...but thats about it.
