Just bought a Civic today and want to tune it up! Any suggestions? I NEED HELP!
I just bought a 94 EX coupe, 130k on the clock and still going strong. I love the car and am looking forward to working on it... I was gonna look the thing over tomorrow on my day off and make sure all the fluids are topped off, change the oil to synthetic (and install a new filter), as well as check the spark plugs to make sure they are all newer and gapped to specs... Does anyone know the best way to do this? Also, what are specs I should be looking for? What do I use to check the gap? How much of a turn do I need to put them back in without damage?
Also, what else would everyone who has one of these cars recommend I do in terms of other basic maintinance tune up stuff? I already know the belts are all new as of 101k (as is the water pump). The last time the coolant was flushed and the brake fluid was changed was at 105k. The brakes are new as well, tires too.
Am I gonna need a clutch soon?
THANKS!!!

congrats with the new car. have fun with it, as far as "tuning it up" what do you want out of your car? How much HP are you looking at gaing? and the real question is, how much money are you willing to spend? As far as the maintenance aspect of your project i wouldn't worry about the plugs not being gaped to a certain spec, but if you want to check then go to napa or advanced and get a spark plug gap tool there like .99 cents not sure what the spec would be tho. While your out pick up a helms manual for your year and model and that will give you all the torque specs for everything, what I usually do for my plugs is just tighten them down until they get tight... hah easy enough you don't want to go too tight with them. good luck man
