Default Junkyard HID.....can I do it? 95 civic....

As the topic says, I'd like to do a junkyard HID setup on my '95 Civic EX. I know I need ballasts and bulbs, but will any of them do from any car equppied with HID's? Would I be best-suited looking for a wrecked Acura to take them from? And if I do find one, are HID's taken frequently?

Well if you can find it its doable but remember u will lose your high beam. Some ballast need external igniters so make sure u got everything. I did this setup on my 95 civic coupe with audi ballast and hid. Good luck with ur setup.

o lord, that must look awesome. u have those in projectors right?
it would look strange with oem headlights, or just the thought makes me think it'd look strange.

actually its not in projectors. I have D2R bulbs in my stock housing. The housing on civic projectors are too small to fit the hids in there so I stuck with stock headlights. Lighting is great (much better than with halogen bulbs) and its not glaring since i had turned it down.

ya but you can modify the projector insert, (its only big enough for h3, if not h1), lil tiny h lights, it's possible to modify and do mounting on it so the HID will fit.

i personally think it'd look better in projectors like audi's and BMW's have.
I know alot of BMW's and Acura's like RL and CL have hid with housing, i like audi's with projectors and think it'd look better with that ;x

what bulbs are mainly used for HID's? cuz i want to do hid conversion in mine and i have projectors

Ive got HID's from a 01 GS400 in my '00 Si. It was easy and the lights are unreal. You do lose your high beams, but the HID's are way brighter than my high beams ever were even with PIAA superwhites. None of my cars will ever use standard bulbs again.

My real big concern with the projector was that im afraid the housing wont be long enough for the hid bulb. Although im not really sure cause i never actually had projectors before. Instead i plan to get some audi hid projectors and fit it into my stock headlight housing. That way ill have the correct beam pattern.
