JUN 3 Cams in 99 Si
I have a 99 Si with i/h/e and before i spend money on cams and valvetrain i would like to know around how much faster my car would be. I live at sea level and decent driving. Does anyone have these cams in their Si...how do u like them? Thankyou

Re: JUN 3 Cams in 99 Si (NVMYSi)
first off skunk stage three cams are for race use only, its the stage 2 cams that are the same specs as jun 3's
as far as reliability i would trust juns over the skunks any day
its up to u though if u want the original or the imposter

skunk = american?????
man i know skunk ever since they were up here in the bay area..
all their stuff is made in tawain......
when was the last time you saw jun's break???
i haven't seen any, recently, maybe that's because it was a installation error...
and my friend had jun 3's in his car with their ecu, road raced itand had them in his car for a year no problems....

F ck JUN cams, all i see is breaking here, or there..
and CROWER blows also...they dont use the protective copper coating thats supposed to strengthen them...
TODA cams have been snapping timing belts this whole time...
ive yet to see a problem with Skunk2 products aside from the cam wearing problem 4 years ago...
and the american product is cheaper anyway, it puts out more power, and have a lesser chance of breaking or screwing something up

oh yea, skunk stage 3 requires pistons and all that stuff, it is too wild to just drop in and run.

i doubt crower makes skunk2 cams
and my choice for stock drop in would be stage 1s, stage 2s with springs

Re: JUN 3 Cams in 99 Si (b20bastard)
If I do cams it'll be something mild. If I want to be fast I'd do a turbo.
I had B's and I was a timing belt victim. I've heard negative and positive stuff about all types of cams besides the Spec A's Jun II's Skunk Stage 1's, CTR's and ITR's.

i have skunk2 stage 1 cams in my ITR motor, to my surprise they gave me superior pawer over the stock itr cams...
i wish i would have gotten printouts from AEBS>>
my setup is this...
stock B18c5 internally,
jdm 4-1
aem for ITR
JUN ecu
and a VAFC
with those parts, i hit 181/130 on stock itr cams
with those same parts, on the same day, i hit 198/136 on skunk2 stage 1 cams.
stock compression
STOCK CLUTCH
dynoed on 16' wheels also..
Skunk2 gets my vote

Re: JUN 3 Cams in 99 Si (Second2None)
I've heard of the Stage 2s breaking. I think anything aftermarket faces the chance of breaking. **** happens. I also heard good things about JUN and the Skunk2 cams...some people get a bunk product.
Can't wait to get his Skunk2 Stage 1 cams soon!!!

Re: JUN 3 Cams in 99 Si (Second2None)
SK2 JUN
Installation errors will cause your cams to break no matter who built them, valve to piston bashing will increase your chances of trouble, failing to plan out what your are going to do increases your chances of failure.... So as you can see no matter which cam you buy there are several factors that will play into the mix of breakage. I prefer JUN because I know the R&D is there, I know they will stand behind their product as long as some moron didn't install the cam and cause it to break. I know JUN will make things right if things do go wrong... I KNOW these things. Customer satisfaction is guarenteed by JUN just follow the rules. I've never heard anything about service of SK2 or Crower, just horror stories of their products. Toda is ok, but a nemisis of JUN...

Re: JUN 3 Cams in 99 Si (Cheap Bastard)
I have Jun 3 cams and like them alot. I have over 80k miles on the motor with these cams. Check the sig.
no but seriously, i think JUN has a better reputation as far as R and D goes. like i said before, if there was a problem with breakage, then JUN would have fixed this problem by now right? same with skunk or crower. As for Toda being the belt snapper, they have fixed that solution too. GET THE TODA TIMING BELT... these are race parts and race parts usually dont have any warranty of any sort. JUN reccoment JUN springs in conjunction with their cams, so if someone breaks the stage 3s using crower springs, who is there to blame? i think skunk2 and JUN are both good companies, but i probably prefer JUN over skunks because if their product goes wrong using all their parts, they can and probably would back it up and help u fix ur motor.
rumors spread like wildfires, and praise is barely ever heard...

Re: JUN 3 Cams in 99 Si (C5_ALLMOTOR)
All of this "I heard this and that about Skunk2, JUN BLAH BLAH".. is basically all here say. IMO they both make good products. Like Cheap Bastard said, he has 80k miles on his motor with JUN IIIs and no problems!! That's impressive. That's also with a stock bottom end, if I'm not mistaken. I spoke to a dude online that said his good friend has JUN stage III kit on his 1999 Si (b16a2) with Port and polished head, and CTR pistons. He's making 198 hp!! He says his friends car runs very well and very fast. He also said Area 51 did the work.
If you have the cash to spend and are an all motor freak you can push high 190s and probably low 200s whp with high compression pistons a good P&P and good tunning. I would love to hear a b16a2 revving at 9300 rpm..

wow, kinda the same set up i have. meaning running with the ITR cams. right now i'm making 177 hp/136 tq
however, out of everyone on this board, your making good hp's without the extreme cash flow. my ideal goal is to have rough 190-200 hp with cams. so i'm not shy from what i want it to be.
but it sum up to the two cams.
Skunk stage 2's or Jun III's.
