J's intake VS AEM short ram : Which to buy
I am having trouble deciding which intake to get. these can be found at dragracing.com
the J's STYLE intake is 69.99 shipped
the AEM short ram is 74.99 shipped
which one will give me more gains? and which one has more qualtity (fit/finish)?
-thanks
EDIT:
here is another one if found
89.99 at modacar.com
Modacar offers its New Cold Air Induction Systems. Mandrel-bent, polished tube with a re-useable filter. These Modacar Cold Air Intake System provides increased power as it draws cold air. Complete with hardware and TIG welded fittings.

Re: (thrty8street)
you will probably not see any REAL gains. Its an intake on a basically stock engine....it'll give you sound and when combined with later improvements, it will be better.
either design is fine. Pick which you like

you speak as though it's wrong to spend less money on an equal part.... considering they both do the same thing..

you might gain 0.0056958 WHP, IF youre lucky..

But, if I can go back, I'd get the AEM shortram for $75, same price I got this one for shipped. J's style looks like a whale's *****. I want something that fits smoothly and doens't rub on the strut tower.
Tell you what, sell you mine for $60 shipped. Pretty new, like 2 months old. No scratches. It's red. With coupling, hose and filter.

ok, sure dood!

Re: (SpoonFedHatch)
i'd go with the AEM because it comes with a good filter.
i'm running ebay piping with k&n filter because it's cheapest.
between the two, i'd prefer the better filter of the AEM.

exactly. Most ebay intakes are 2piece too, so if you live in a rainy area you can go short ram during the winter/early spring and cold air during summer and fall

or you could just make your own to do this for less than most cai's (maybe not the really cheap ebay ones)
