ok........my friend has a 99 si, and he put the jg intake manifold on it, and it emits a real high pitch whistling when you drive it. its pretty loud, but not too loud.......but at the least, VERY strange sounding. does anyone else hear this thing too with this manifold?

Dont want to ask a dumb question, did you guys put the allenhead bolt in the other side of the intake manifold???

most aftermarket IMs make a high pitch noise.

my skunk2 makes the same noise between 3-4k rpm in low gears...

i have no clue, i had nothing to do with the install. all i know is that thing is loud!

its normal.. my skunk2 IM on my b18c1 does it all the time.. sounds good if you ask me..

It is not normal, Do you have a JG edelbrock intake manifold? No, then you probably dont know. It should not be louder than the engine itself.

are there any other symptoms? Erratic idle, fluid leaks etc.

yeah, it supposedly leaks like 1 drop of oil from somewhere on the motor.......and it has just been rebuilt with srp pistons and eagle rods, new bearings, etc. kinda weird, huh?

The JG manifold should not be making a high pitched Squeaking noise, Mine does'nt, My friends on his LS/VTEC does'nt and my Buddies on his B18C1 does'nt either.

Have him check all of his connection and hoses along with the lenbolt on the driver side of the manifold closest to the master cylinder.

Could it be the intake (short or cai)? I know I just put a an AEM short ram on mine and it does make a whistling noise at low rpm, not a squeaking though. It could just be the way the air is flowing past his throttle body. Hopefully it's something simple.

sounds like you have an air leak. how is your idle? try to feel and hear for the leak and plug it up.

The whistling noise you're hearing is just the intake. When using an aftermarket IM like Skunk2, JG, STR, etc, there's more airflow, and the airfilter sounds louder, usually only on the low end, as the RPM build, the exhaust drowns it out. My friend has a stock airbox with the JG intake manifold, and it does not make that whistle on the low end, but when he had a short ram, damn it whistled loud. I'm using the Skunk2 IM with a short ram, and it always whistles between 2500-3500 RPM.
