Default jdm vtec solenoid...no mesh screen inside?

i am having vtec problems...so i decided to take off the solenoid and check the mesh screen like i was told.

i took it off...but i dont see any mesh screen.
its a vtec solenoid from a 97 jdm b18c
are ALL vtec solenoids supposed to have it? could this b the cause of my no vtec problem.

Well, considering I have never seen one that has a screen on the top section like that, I would say you are fine. Remove the solenoid itself from the head, you will find your mesh screen there.

I'm telling you there IS a screen, but not there and yes, you need to remove the whole unit completely to find the screen.

there should be a screen there, a little circleone and the lower solenoid part has another one. take gasket out maybe, try and change your oil and drain through screen to see if its in there.

I had a few of those apart in my day and have NEVER seen one with a screen on the top section.

I also see no screen shown in the top part of this diagram either.
