Default jdm vs usdm motors

on hmotorsonline.com it says a gsr complete swap is 180 so hp while the usdm is 170. It only lists one price...... If jdm has +10 hp over usdm, why doesnt everybody just get that? (thanks for puttin up with my newb question )

Wel two of the main reasons i think are that the wireing harnesses on the JDM one are shorter than the USDM ones so you either have to extend them or wire up some extra wires in your stock one also the USDM one is easyer to smog.

if you wanna be legal - it's a lot easier with USDM motors - sicne you can get papers etc. etc.

plus its more a risk having JDM motors in the sense that you can't justify how the person took care of it over there.

im sure more ppl in the US change their oil as apposed the few no adding oil JDM ppl.

it's not shorter on the jdm vs. usdm. JDM wiring harness are for RHD cars, where USDM wiring harness are for LHD cars. get your facts straight. how the hell can you say usdm is easier to smog? regardless of what you do to the car jdm or usdm engine, the smog ref will tell you as long as you have all the smog equipment for THAT engine you will pass. once again don't give BS info if you don't know WTF you are talking about.

jdm's quote the higher HP because of their higher octane gas they run over there...

also....jdm motors are a little cheaper than the USDM ones

but no matter where u got the engine from u never know how that person took care of that motor... they are both risky...

I also think both are equally hard to smog....

the smog between a jdm and usdm spec of the same engine(b18c5 for example) will be nearly identical if you are running the same ecu on both, they have basically all the same sensors and parts.

the difference is the richer jdm ecu program(which have a really low top speed governer too) and obd2 usdm itr ecus which are more smog conciencious for this country. they are the same engine otherwise, the +10hp will come from higher compression and less smog-oriented(more aggressive) tuning.

get whatever engine you can find for a good deal.
