JDM vs American

Unceasing Measure
Re: JDM vs American (Hebrew-Hammer)
Lack of strict emissions and more OEM performance components make the majority of the JDM engines 5-10hp more powerful at the crank. Of course, it depends on the engine model and application, so don't take that as a global comment.

Yeah the motors from japan usually are overall more powerful, and have better features like LSD, and you might get some extra aftermarket goddies.

Re: JDM vs American (Hebrew-Hammer)
well lets use the crx for example...
USDM Si crx.....16.5 1/4 has a 1.6L SOHC with 108hp and 99ft trq
JDM si crx.......15.7 1/4 (app) 1.6 DOHC (ZC) 130hp
JDM SiR crx....14.8 1/4....has a B16A with 160hp and 111ft trq...
lets just say they had way better options on everything and have cars they dont exist here...and in the time they didnt have those motors exist here either beside the ZC...i go to think they're motors are build better and more precise because here in america its " good enough" and there its "get it right mother ******" with a kick in the junk ...

yeah I wonder how many JDM motors that people think are way better
than the USDM counterparts are really actually not THAT far off, just measured
in PS and people assume its an HP rating.
heres an example, my d15b vtec is a 130ps motor, that translates to about 128hp.
I'm guessing the difference grows as the numbers grow.
there is a calculator out there you can use, I think I found one in a google search.
still even after the PS conversion, the JDM motors, in many cases, would still come out a bit stronger than the USDM ones.

Quite true. As others have said, this is due mainly to slightly higher compression, different ECU tuning, and availability of higher-octane fuel (which ties in with the ECU tuning).

PS stands for "PferdeStarke", which loosely translated from German means "horsepower".
