What do you guys think of this. Check out the link above to check it out. They offer a valve cover with a so called "laser" moon cut to allow you to adjust your cam gears. Do you guys think its worth that much, if not.. how much??

$45 for someone to do that is rediculous! We cut mine with a hole saw from Home Depot and a 12V Dewalt cordless...it really isn't hard...

ot: but JG why did you choose to mount thc pcv in the valve cover like that?
Why not just put an inline pcv from the itm to the stock vaccum port on the
valve cover?

Is this actually a real valve cover? On ebay the starting bid for it is $1.00? Hmmm...kinda fishy...
Or am I wrong about the $1.00 start bid?

I bought a stripped valve cover from a guy who didn't make round cuts in the side.. but chopped all of it off.
There isn't any danger to exposing the cam gears just a little more is there? Or should I be worried?

i think stealth look is the best just get another vavle cover for dirt cheap and cut that and use that to tune it and then put back the regular one. or you can think about it like this how often do i adjust the cam gears or unless you spent 3 bills on some spoon/jdm whatever and want to show it off then that product is for YOU!!

I bought the motor from a friend of mine, Dropspeed on this board. Ask him. He had a reason for it. Something like 20 hp or something hehe.

I never even thought of this, but why not just cut ONLY the plastic bottom part of the cam gear cover!
****, that is soooooo cheap to replace with a second uncut one!
you have access to the cambolts also, just turn every so often to reach the next bolt. ****, that is what I am going to do.. in fact maybe I can even make a temporary cover to go over the holes! nice!
I wouldnt pay someone 45 bucks... the cutting of the valve cover is simple if you have a dremel or a jigsaw or a mill/machine table. just takes some patience.

"why not just cut ONLY the plastic bottom part of the cam gear cover!"
Don't think this makes much sense, seeing as how you don't really want to be turning the crank when the cam gear bolts are loose. Also would make it really hard to read whether the gears are in line or even see the marks at all. Just seems like much more of a hassle when a hole saw is only 3-6 bucks!

I see on some designs this may not be possible.... but... on my skunk2's and many other designs, the timing marks are right at a camgear bolt... and some with many bolts make it possible to tighten more than one when you have only the plastic cover cut (and thus half of the camgear exposed at any one time).

IMO, i dont think spending $40 bucks for a PROFESSIONALLY done cut is that bad...those cuts look primo...i know i couldnt do something that clean...

Yea it looks pretty smooth. My friends got his cut when he put JUN sheit in his Lude. They just used like a, I dunno what its called, like a electric hacksaw. Like those you see on T.V. cutting tin cans. Like the cooking kind, but bigger
