Need Help with JDM V-Tech E motor/tranny swap - [MPG Daily Diver Project]
I'm new on the board and i really am looking for a good gas saver daily driver. and i might be getting a 93 honda civic ex coupe...automatic...here are the question:
1. How different is a JDM spec VX motor?
2. this motor comes with a stock 5 spd. Can the ex automatic tranny easily be adapted to this motor?
3. How difficult would the swap be if i had to swap from automatic into a manual?
4. Can a VX hatch motor [V-tech E] be swap into any 92-95 civic?
this is just the basic question i will have more to come but that is it for now. any comments would help thank you.

Re: (ek gripper)
i would rather it be a 5 spd...but if the work is alot easier for it to be a automatic i;ll keep it a automatic you know what i mean? the shell is a automatic as of right now....if its like a 2 hr job for a manual swap then i would definitly do it.

1. How different is a JDM spec VX motor?
I don't think they have a VX in Japan.
2. this motor comes with a stock 5 spd. Can the ex automatic tranny easily be adapted to this motor?
Yes the auto tranny will bolt on.
3. How difficult would the swap be if i had to swap from automatic into a manual?
Not too difficult, but it probably won't be worth your time.
4. Can a VX hatch motor [V-tech E] be swap into any 92-95 civic?
Yes a VX hatch is a 92-95 Civic, so you can put it's motor into anything.

the ecu is differant, the wiring harness is differant, the oxygen sensors are $300+ ... if you are out for mileage you will be satified w/ any sohc honda motor. keep up the regular maintence and it will be fine.

Ohhhh you've got an automatic shell and you're putting a motor in it thats got a 5spd bolted to it already. I was a little out of it when i read this, sorry. I'd just do the 5spd, you'll be happier in the long run if 5spd is what you like. Plus, automatics on sohc's always seem to SUCK.

They made a vx equivalent in japan, it's just another d15b like all the others, a friend of mine got his for like 550 shipped with 30k on it, he's swapping it sometime in the coming week. Check out the first link in my sig if you want some crazy help from a lot of vtec-e owners,
