JDM or USDM b16a engine..
Alright, tomorrows the day! I got the money to go put a deposit down on my engine so the shop can order it. Here is my question: USDM or JDM B16A!
I am leaning towards JDM (10 more horsepower) but I hear the wiring harness is meant for RHD vehicles. I am putting it into a 93 CX hatch.
Anyone know what MORE is involved in putting a JDM engine into a USDM car? Any details would be great.. like how big of a pain in the *** it is to re-wire the harness to US spec..
Any other BS crap I would run into doing a JDM engine would be great to know too!
Thanks!

ok i have a 92 cx w/ jdm b16a heres what we did. first i recomended using polyurethane for mount inserts, use a GSR harness for your motor. I'd say go for the JDM b16a. peace

it only took me a few hours to rewire my JDM engine. just reuse your stock harness. with my cx harness on my b18, all i had to do was lengthen the knock sensor wire, IAT sensors 2 wires, and one more sensor with 2 wires, i forgot wich one though. and then just cut the plugs off the JDM harness for the o2, vtec sol, vtec press, and knock, then just wire those to the shocktowers. from there it would be the same as the USDM engine.
**edit**
the only real downside i can see is the ecu will have a speed limiter.

May I ask how much you're paying for it and from where? I was thinking about doing an eng swap on my 91 civic.

Either way, install in a piece of cake. I've been going to the same shop for so long, they offered to me a JDM GSR in my 93 CX for $300 as an install price. $3100 for the motor. And being in Seattle, don't worry about emissions. You should pass just fine with a JDM motor. Not that strick about it around here.

Everybody is also forgetting the MAP. JDM 92-95 B16's don't have a place to put the MAP on the throttle body, so one has to be jury rigged on.

Two methods for putting a JDM B16A motor in a 1992-1995 civic:
Use the B16A JDm harness (if it's not cut!) and simply flip it around. It works, but you'll no longer have the plugs all neatly mounted on each strut tower area because you're stretching the harness in the wrong directions. You'll have to T a vacuum for the MAP sensor and even wire it up - leat that was the case on my friend's car.
OR
Use the stock CX harness and add the knock sensor wires, VTEC wires, and change the 02 wires (right?).
