!!!JDM OR US SPEC?????
I BOUGHT A 92 CX HATCH. THE GUY THAT I BOUGHT IT OFF OF DID NOT KNOW THAT IT HAD AN ENGINE SWAP BUT WHEN I POPPED THE HOOD I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAD A V- TECH SOLENOID. I SAW IT WAS A D15B BUT MY ENGINE LOOKS DIFFERENT THAN ALL OF THE OTHER PIX I HAVE SEEN. MY THROTTLE BODIE IS SUPER SMALL AND IT LOOKS LIKE MY ENGINE IS REVERSED BECAUSE MY SPARK PLUG WIRES ARE ON THE TOP AND OIL CAP IS ON BOTTOM LEFT SIDE AND ALL THE OTHER PIXS I HAVE SEEN HAVE THE WIRES ON BOTTOM AND OIL CAP ON TOP RIGHT CORNER. SO IS IT JDM OR NOT ???? PLZ HELP!!!

You got a VX. It has vtec-e which kinda sucks but you get good MPG as well as decent low end for a SOHC with only 92 hp.

I am sure that it is a cx and i know what a v-tech solenoid looks like and my head says D15b with no numbers after it and the tranny also says D15b. and the top of the valve cover says in chalk d15b 122,000 which i am guessing is when they swaped the engine. There is also alot of japanese writing on the cam gear cover.

ALL D series VTEC engines have the spark plugs on the radiator support side of the engine. Why? Because it has 3 intake lobs and there's no room for the plugs. And the oil cap WILL be on the firewall side of the engine, on the driver side. VX, D15B, SOHC ZC, D16Z6, any of those will look this way. You may have a D15B block, or the last digit is too covered in grime to be legible.
Either way, from how you described the valve cover, it's deffinately a non vtec head. Take a pic and prove me wrong

i know i have a v-tech head because i have the v-tech solenoid in my trunk because a mechanic told me it was crack so he took it off and covered the hole that is in the firewall side of the engine and it is on the head. It was not connected to the ecu though i know that. I will get some pix asap.

your right my bad. I was in a hurry to say something. But to the guy who keeps saying v-tech it stands for variable timing and lift electronic control there's no h in vtec

Re: !!!JDM OR US SPEC????? (hatchfreak92)
It's not hard to determine if his engine has a VTEC solenoid on it or not. So he may have VTEC. Also, it's not hard to determine if there are nubers after his engine code on the block. He can't be that dumb. Not always will there be a VIN# on the engine. If there's supposed to be, then hey... out of every single JDM engine I've seen, I've haven't come across one with a VIN# stamped, or labeled onto the block/tranny yet. Let's just wait 'til he shows us the pictures. Don't hate just 'cus he may have a JDM SOHC.
