Default JDM lovers can you help me with a price quote?

ok my buddy is selling his 2000 si and it has 56,000 miles on a theft recovery title. it has a few dings here and there. but in the back quarter panel it could use some bondo. it is sitting on tien suspension with the gold Jmags. the bad is 2nd gear is going out so it would need a new tranny or sincro work. he said he would sell it to me for $5800. and i want to know what you guys think please help me out cuz if its a good deal ill snag it now thanks

the thing is in oregon most salvage title si are going for $7500 or 8 grand. so $5800 is the lowest he can go to pay his loan off and im wondering if i should just pay the other $1500 to get one that dont have problems

how is this tecnical?

but to answer you question, yes it's best to pay the $1500 and have no problems.
the body is alittle beat up and 2nd gear is gone. you do the math.
