JDM ITR B18C, no VTEC pressure switch??
My friend and I are working on a J-spec ITR swap for his Civic, and while working on the wiring harness today we noticed that the ITR motor does not have the 2-wire plug for the VTEC pressure switch like most other VTEC engines do. The 1-wire solenoid harness plug is there, but not the pressure switch. Is the VTEC system different on these engines, i.e. does it use the other oil pressure reading in some way to operate VTEC? Are USDM B18C5's like this or is this just on JDM B18C's (P73 ECU)?

jdm itr motor= no pressure switch, only one o2 sensor, and that bling bling oil cap.
as long as ur using the jdm ecu ur golden.

yeah or at least that how it was with my 96 jdm itr swap into my 94 cx. ran vtec wire and i think knock that was it.... are you doing the obd1 to 2 conversion? thats what i did. it was great when we drove it for the first time and vtec kicked in and there were no problems. damn it was something...

Re: JDM ITR B18C, no VTEC pressure switch?? (CivicNA)
Car is a 98 CX hatch, engine is a 99 (I think) J-spec ITR.... engine looks extremely clean, both inside and out. We're using a 97 EX harness (already had VTEC and knock sensor wires) but the harness is from an auto tranny car. The reverse light wires are different (although I think we got it figured out, or at least partly) and we had to change the IAC plug from a 3-wire to a 2-wire. I also had to change the IAT plug to a different plug and also lengthen it.

T tap a wire from the VTEC Solnoid wire to the Black/Blue wire on the pressure switch plug and it'll solve your problem. I have a B18C-R in my 99 Civic

you should be alright if you're using the JDM ECU. if you ever decide to switch to a chipped p28 or another USDM based ECU, you can use a vtec solenoid off of any USDM b-series engine.

jdm motors do not have the oil pressure switch oni the motor cuz its bult into the jdm ecu. your going to need to get a oil pressure switch off a usdm dual cam vtec motor to use a usdm ecu. after you add the oil pressure switch to the jdm motor then just wire up a ground and the blue and black wire to the ecu from the switch and your good to go.

What would that do? The VTEC pressure switch plug on the 97 Civic EX harness we're using isn't plugged into anything.
96-98 and 99-00 harnesses are way different, so maybe you're thinking of a 99-00 harness.

Use a JDM ECU then run a kenji ECU, the fuel maps are much better on kenji's than a honda designed fuel map.

you will be just fine with a jdm ecu. no problem you ony need the presure switch if u use a usdm ecu
