Default JDM itr in a 92 hatch vx

like title says .. what all will i need to fit a 97 jdm itr into a 92 vx hatch.. i know it will fit and without mounts, but my hatch is obd1 and the JDM b18c5 is obd2 i think.. right?(96+ is obd2?) I think i will have to get new dist. and wiring harness and like a p28 chipped ecu. Am I right? What all will i need to make this fit.. i helped a buddy install a b18c1 in his hatch and it was fairly simple. i already bought my hoist and all tools i'll need to do this swap but its the first time im trying to do the swap by myself. I am going to pick up my hatc with f*cked up motor in 2 days from a friend for $2000, and i can get the JRM ITR motor for $4000 right now if i buy it soon, which i will. It be nice to know what exactly i'll bneed before i jump into this..

use a chipped p28.
get a usdm vtec solenoid so that it has the vtec oil pressure sensor on it.
either stretch your jdm harness and plug it to the chassis harness.
or get a ob2 gsr or itr engine harness.

its all plug and play.

A C5 is a little more complicated to install than a C1. However still an easy swap. B18C5-EH2 has one is his ride, duh, hence the name. Anyway. A guy named Kenji on this board can make you a wiring harness to support the new motor. A new dist. won't be needed, just the harness. I'm drawing a blank for exactly all the parts needed, however someone will help you out with the other info. GOOD LUCK! If you get stuck, take a break, post something up, and drink a beer. Don't get frutrated and break something...

Take you time when doing the swap, remember punch pin for shift linkage, other than that, without rust, you'll have no problems.

I'm in the same situation. I have a POS running hatch and getting a GSR motor. I am probably getting an OBD2 motor, but I've read all I have to change is the Ecu. Distributor and alternator can stay!

Anyhow, here is a thread I found for you using the "Search" function. Try it out and you'll find a lot of your Q's already posted 10 times

Here's how you get 52 threads on this: Search / "b18c5 eg" / and serch under the "Hybrid" forum archived.

look up a post by the forum moderator B18C5-EH2.
he explains in depth what he did to swap in a b18c5.

you dont need to get a OBD 1 anthing for the engine. Just get an OBD2 GSR or type R engine harness and drop it right in. Very little wiring needed.
