If it is out of a CTR (not ITR), then it WILL fit. Tranny code on CTR should be S4C, just like the SI.

As far as I know, there are no "special" gears or parts needed to install the CTR LSD into the SI's tranny. I've never done it for one, but I did rebuild my CTR tranny and used '00 Civic SI parts (i.e., synchros and bearings)
good luck

me too-i was under the impression both ITR and CTR are the same diffs.the LSD i put in my GSR tranny that i bought from danphan, was sold as a CTR unit.
only tip si can give you are to be careful when pulling the carrier bearings off your old diff if you're going to be re-using them, and m,ake sure you shim it correctly.just follow the Helm closely and you'll be fine.

judging by the title i think that was the LSD from Ebay user Japandy? if so i just bought it! lol (before reading this thread)
There is also another one he's selling from an ITR but you DO need geering to fit your tranny unlike the CTR one, straight swap afaik!

he sure is! always got a lot of stuff for sale, and it's all good stuff too!
Someone i just bought a BOV off of refered me to Japandy! Glad he did!
I can see me buying more from him in the future!
Anyway... can't wait for my LSD. Roughly how long would it take to put the new LSD in? difficult job?

Well, I don't know how they can be identical because, I know for a fact that when I changed my final drive to the ATS 4.9 ratio, the ring gear on the ITR is bigger than the CTR. I asked whether or not the ring gears were interchangeable between diffs and they weren't. Also for reference, I looked up quaife lsd's and the S80 lsd's also have a different part number than the S4C lsd's.
With that said, if the ITR (S80) and CTR (S4c) lsd's are the same, why do they have different part numbers for aftermarket final drive sets and/or lsd's?

then the 4.4 FD ITR and CTR have the same LSD.

Re: JDM HONDA EK9 CIVIC TYPE R HELICAL LSD CTR (JUN EK9)
i want to get a CTR lsd for my si tranny as well, does anyone know for sure if it is a bolt on? I heard that something needs to be modified to the tranny casing to get the LSD to fit. Am I wrong? thanks

Re: JDM HONDA EK9 CIVIC TYPE R HELICAL LSD CTR (blackspoonem)
I have a ctr lsd in my si tranny, but it is not a direct bolt in. Because the final drive gear will not transfer over. The only way it will work is if you have a ctr/itr final drive gear.

Re: JDM HONDA EK9 CIVIC TYPE R HELICAL LSD CTR (Cheap Bastard)
the ctr final drive gear is 4.40 and the si final drive is 4.40 why would you need to swap the final drive when they are the same size

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CTR WILL NOT FIT B16 either!!!!!!!
if you want CTR OR ITR LSD to work in a b16a tranny you need lsd, itr bearins, itr counter shaft and itr ring gear....
do a search this has been covered!

I'm almost positive the Si final drive is not a 4.40... Only USDM ITR and GSR, and pre-98 JDM ITR's came with the 4.40 final drive... Si's came with a 4.266 final drive... This is why the CTR or ITR LSD will not just bolt right in....

Re: JDM HONDA EK9 CIVIC TYPE R HELICAL LSD CTR (chad)
99-00 Si have 4.4 final drive, and so do certain model ITR and CTR's. It's not the numerical ratio that makes them incompatible, but the bolt patterns on the ring gears are different.
You can not bolt a 99-00 Si ring gear to a ITR/CTR lsd. I have both ring gears at home to prove it.
And yes as chad stated above the bearings in ITR's and older CTR's have the older taper bearings. My CTR lsd came with all the bearings (sealed roller), and did not have to switch bearings. I don't know if the taper bearings are compatible, but I know for sure that the sealed roller bearings are compatible with 99-00Si trannies.
