I just purchased a '96 del sol with a JDM GSR B18C OBDII motor. The emissions test (OBDII because of the year and my state - CT) could not be completed. Reason being no communication at the OBDII data port. The local mechanic at the emissions testing station was unable to find the reason for no communication.

Should I find a more knowlegeable mechanic or is there some known issue with emissions testing on this motor> The seller claims it should work; the shop that did the swap says it may have been converted to OBD1; CT requires OBDII because of the year of the car and the seller had emissions testing done via probe in the tail pipe.

Any help would be appreciated.
