Default JDM Engines?

From what I understand, (Or have heard) the reason for all of these JDM engines being shipped here with only like 40,000 kms is because in Japan there is some emissions law that prohibits cars from being used for too long or something to that effect.... Is this at all true??? Im just wondering how there can be so many engines with fairly low kms that are so available... Anyone got any info on this?? Or is this just a load of crap that someone told me???

Thanks!

when getting a jdm motor you will have noooo idea of how many miles/km it originaly had.

because of smog issues a majority of the motors are lower mileage, but you will never know... always double check everything...

we found water in cylinder #1, and figured it was due to shipping, seeing as it ran alright... 2 month later, sleeve #1 cracked... cooool.

alot of the times, you CAN know the mileage on the motor. IF the motor came in a half cut, which many do, ask the seller if they have the kilos off the cluster. Thats usually the only way to know.

Good luck..

after X miles there is substancial TAX on that vehicle to keep it on the road. often times its cheaper to dump it and buy a new car

Thing is, you never know, you might get luckey, you might not.

More than likey your going to get a lower miliage engine, compared to a USDM driven car with same series engine. However, lets take a B16A1, it was no longer produced after 92 at most. That means the engine sat for ten years! And now it still has less than 40 kms on it. I think not...

BTW, 10 hp and increased compression is actually and pretty big difference...

I would feel safe buying a JDM motor after 1996, most of the time they have over stocked motors, they of course ship them here, and sell them, some bad, I'd say many good!

If you like to gamble, go for it. If you want to play it safe, get the motor from http://www.hmotorsonline.com - They pick good motors and have excellent managing staff - from what I've read/heard many times...

Oh yeah, search, and why the hell did you post in civic tech?
