ANSWER:
You don't need to modify the collector. You just need a 2.5" S2000 or Legend Donut gasket (part no: 18229-PCX-003 or 18229-SPO-J51) and a 2.5" carsound cat. The carsound comes w/o flanges unless you order it from a shop that installed them (http://www.ipsracing.com or from SMSP). The JDM DC hangs lower than a 4-2-1, but not as low as a JDM ITR 4-1. So if your car is low, be careful driving it.
The JDM ITR header is more robust and you can get a skidplate w/ it so it may be a better choice (http://www.fastlineperformance.com/skidplate.htm).
Gains wise, the DC is a little better because it flows better. The JDM ITR's seams are welded internally so you can get them rewelded on the outside and port the inside. Refer to the Great Header test for UNTUNED gains.
Worth the money... YES.
How's that for an 800 post answer?
SEARCH is your friend too...the JDM header topic has been covered a multitude of times...

Re: JDM DC header + carsound cat for b16..flange question (SpoonEK2)
with your carsound ?, order the carsound cat from http://www.testpipe.com and tell them that its for the jdm dc itr header, they'll weld a 2.5 flange for the 2.5 collector on the header. they'll also give you a free 2.5 donut if you ask.
