Default Jdm d15b questions

I was wondering what timing belt works for this motor and also water pump.People told me to get a y8 headgasket for a slight bump in compression but will this be safe? if i decide to not get a y8 gasket which one works. Thanks for all your help

just get the motor and install it. don't change anything out. we've put two of those motors in friends car without changing anything and they are running fine.

d16z6.

and to the guy that said there's no need to replace gaskets/belts when doing a swap...seriously, just do everything since you're in there. you have no idea how long the motor was sitting there. japanese people toss out cars like yesterday's newspaper.

do what you want, but out of all the jdm motors we have installed, they have all held up good. compression numbers were good in all of them also.

Just because your motors were good doesnt mean mine will.Plus i want to make sure everything is fresh and not going to break all of a sudden cuz i didnt spend the extra cash on new parts just to be safe.

use the vx belt. 103 teeth. before you even fork over the cash, count them out manually.

and for the waterpump.... supposedly a vx also. i bought a vx from kragen and it didn't fit. i have a feeling they gave me the wrong one...

d15b on bottom, "vx" on top. obviously didn't fit.

once more, d15b bottom.... "vx" top.

and lastly, the d15b.

print them out and take it with ya... its the only way you'll know for sure.

if you count the teeth on the d15b belt it will have 103
vx belt = 103 teeth

I think people are confusing it with a mini me. Thats when you use a z6 belt.
The z6 belt may fit the d15b I don't know I have never tried, but the vx belt is the proper one

yah thats what i thought too, but i had doubts once i read that d-series.org link ...ther guy was saying the VX was too tight or something.....but common sense would be to count the teeth....and the VX had 103 so it should be the proper one ....

I just did mine yesterday and used a vx belt. It was not to tight. just count it and make sure they give you one with 103 teeth

someone should summarize the list of tune-up parts to this motor i.e

timing belt- VX belt
water pump-
plugs/wires
gaskets
alter. belt
etc...

Just for future reference

I've got a D15B. It's teh VX belt & water pump. Some of the aftermarket pumps from Autozone don't always match up exactly. I had to go to 4 different parts houses before I found a match.....

i see you have a 92cx?

well then you can use that harness, and run two wires directly to the shock tower harness plugs. one is vtec pressure. the other is vtec solenoid.

or you can get an ex/si harness and have everything plug right in.

up to you... $50-$100 vs. a couple wires.

guess what i picked

.
.
.
hey btw man if u need parts for the d15b let me know, i'm parting my car and you can be first
