Default JDM D15B Engine Block ??

I just bought a 1995 EX with a JDM D15B. The engine was destroyed by the previous owner. The block has a huge hole in it. I wanted to know if you can use any D15 block or if someone could tell me what block to use. The rest of the motor is in great shape and the motor is not that old. Thanks

D15B VTEC, or non-VTEC engine? What do you have now?

honostly if there's a hole in the block, I doubt everything else is in 'great shape'....who knows how many times it was romped on to make that hole....

However if you get a non-vtec bottom end and try to mate it with a VTEC top end you will have issues unless you mod the head for a mini-me (similiar to LS/VTEC on b-series). This would entail plugging the VTEC oil feed hole and running an external oil line to feed VTEC. So in your case I would get the bottom from a d-series VTEC (I believe I saw you said it is currently VTEC), but anything is possible..

Swap the whole engine.

Why?

Because very few importers want to split a good engine apart to give you a block, and if you end up buying a block you'd always wonder WHY it was split from the head.

Mod the head for a mini me? Never heard of it. Plugging an oil feed line? Never heard of it either. Running an external oil line? once again, never heard of it. Where are you getting all of this bs?
