i have it. all my d16z parts converted right over to it. its supposed to have 130 stock but mine was never stock. i can say mine isnt doing good right now but that is because it needs a vtec controller and at least 3 passes on a dyno. i will let you know how it does on the dyno in about 3 weeks or so hopefully.

Obviously you didn't read past it.

That was a good thread until the creator lost his mind.

why don't people use Y8 instead? Seems to have much more parts availability. Just curious.

First of all, with a y8 an obd conversion would be needed.

Secondly, z6s have plenty of aftermarket support. A bunch of companies make rods and pistons for them, along with cams, valvetrain, etc.

Even a d15b vtec can be built. D16 rods can be used (they're the same) and suzuki vitara pistons can be used (the pistons are shorter so they fit, d16 pistons WILL NOT FIT)

So, parts availability shouldn't be too much of a problem. I say stick w/z6 or d15b.

THanks. I am just curious for people driving 96+ non-vtec like me. A y8 would be a drop in affair with the right harness and ecu right?

It does not have 130hp, more like 128hp. D15Bs are great alternative if you do not have the cash and want a little more response from your car. If you are swapping this motor in your hatch make sure to get the tranny along with it. Because if your still using your stock CX/DX/VX transmission your car will be slow as hell. Get the corresponding P08 ECU, S20 BOOO transmission and you should have a reliable pretty quick car. Good Luck

1) there is a d15b thats not vtec and is injected,

2) im probably gonna switch to either the d16z6 head or d16y8 head onto my jdm d15b i have both, and will probably test both to see which works better. i have heard the y8 works better but want to try them both. i own a d16z6 head and my girl has an extra y8 head
