Default JDM Computer won't idle.

Hey all. I just installed a ZC VTEC last week into my 95 Hatch. The swap was a breeze (except the engine didn't start at first, which turned out to be a bad distributor coil ). Anyway, the motor came with the JDM ECU. I have the engine hooked up using my old CX harness, but when the JDM ECU is hooked up the engine starts, but stays at 2000 rpms and doesn't seem to want to idle down. When I put the USDM ECU back in it runs just fine. I should also mention that I don't have the VTEC wired in yet. Would that mess up the computer?

Try and lower the idle.

during shipment of ecu's a lot of them get thrown around pretty good or moisture gets in them which causes them to go bad. just use the usdm ecu. the jdm ones are set for 99 octane anyways which is extra hard to find in the us

i found that my jdm itr ecu has a higher cold idle than a jdm p30. both jdm, but who knows why. anyways, have you let the car reach full operating temp yet? and the idle still doesn't come down?

There is a idle air control ont he inttake that might be stuck to far open and there for not letting it idle. Check your tps setting to see if that is causing it to go weird. Just an idea

any vacuum leak or misconnected .. connector will cause your idle to be higher than the norm. check all and see if it changes

I had the car out for a drive today and put in the JDM computer to see what would happen. It idle'd at around 1000 rpms but I don't have the VTEC wired up at the moment so it started doing it's little "search" for the VTEC and it didn't like it. The yellow engine light in the instrument cluster won't turn off with the JDM computer in the car, but my mechanic told me it'll turn out when the VTEC is wired.
Another question? Does that computer really want 99 Octane gas? If so, I'm gonna have to use premium(92 Octane) at 80.9 Cents per litre(We get screwed on gas here in canada) and also dump octane boost into it each time.

run the CEL and see what codes you have. that will help to narrow down what problems you have and cure that idle..

I run my zc sohc vtec on 87 octane, thats all you need. anythign more is waste of money on a stock motor.
