Default JDM cluster not reading

i recently finally got my motor running. first start up the cluster was fine. lights needles and everything was working. now the needles dont move at all and some of the warning lights dont light up like on first fire. but the gauges do light up and the fuse is not blown. anyone had something similar happen or might be able to give me direction as to what it might be? im at a complete lost. thanks

Does your odometer/tripodometer work? Have you checked/cleaned your VSS?

sometimes jdm clusters don't work cause they were damaged when shipped here. i seen about 8 that didnt work and just simply needed to be replaced

that would be the worse case scenario....and if thats the way it is hopefully you overpaid and bought from an actual shop so you can send it back.

mine went crazy when my VSS sensor went on the fritz...so hopefully yours is your vss

on the back of the cluster, those solder points, are they suppose to be soldering down the ribbon to the back of the cluster? theres like 10 of them and 8 of them are lifted off the cluster housing with the ribbon.... hopefully that made sense.

the cluster i personally brought back from japan a few years ago. got it in a junkyard for a couple bucks. like i said before, it worked for about the first 5min that the engine was idling and after i adjusted the fuel psi then looked back in at the RPMs it was dead but still had idiot lights

with the VSS. im not getting continuity between the sensor and ecu with the orange wire. all the contact points seem to be clean, no corrosion. so im gonna try to swap out the sensor pickup thats bolted to the VSS.....
