Default JDM B20 Reliability vs USDM B20 Reliability

How does the block on the JDM B20 stand against the Usdm block? Do they both have the same weaknesses?

this is NOT TRUE.....i'm at 220 hp on stock b20 sleeves....have torn it down now 3 times and they show no unusual wear....

yes the sleeves are not as strong if you are boosting....

There is no reliability difference between the two. However, earlier b20's had lower compressoin and made slightly less power than the 99-01 b20's. Just FYI incase your buying one.

What kind of cams do you have on your b20 that your making power at 8500?

i agree. the monolithic design lends itself to heat spots which in turn end up cracking the sleeves. I've yet to see this on a n/a b20 though, usually someone will have a spun bearing from revving too high before they make enough power to cause the heat spots

Sounds like a fun car to drive. Very impressive that you made power that high.
