jdm b18c1 swap
hi im planning of swapping a jdm b18c1 by next month the 98+ integra r.I just want to know if this swap is going to be able to pass the emission in jersey or any state? If not what can i do to make this pass ?Shall i use my ecu(d16y8) that i have now?If not what are the ecu's that i can use?

Re: jdm b18c1 swap (Civtegrar)
I know i would not use the d16y8 ecu it wouldn't run right. Im curious u said u'r puttin a "jdm b18c1 by next month the 98+ integra r" are u puttin a gsr motor into a typer integra? As far as smog as long as u have all the right compenonts for emissions u should pass.

Re: jdm b18c1 swap (blacktsi)
there is no b18c5 in japan they just have b18c for the type r.I dunno where i heard it but they said that u cant pass emission w/ that swap i just want to know if thats a fact cuz i do wanna keep my car legal.
anybody knows if i can use the obd2 gsr ecu to the jdm integra r ?i just wanna use that during inspection day

What car do you have, including year? What motor are you getting? Because there is no jdm b18c1, both the JDM gsr and the JDM itr had the engine code "B18C". So which one are you getting, the ITR or the GSR? Just get the right ECU for the motor. P72 if it's a gsr, P73 if it's an itr.

Re: jdm b18c1 swap (e gee two)
i believe that the motor im getting is a 98 jdm type r and my motor right now is a 99 d16y8.Correct me if im wrong but i think the 98 b18c R is obd2a and mine is obd2b.So i think that i have to get a obd2a to obd2b wiring harness. So what u mean by me by im straight is im going to pass the inspection test?

Re: jdm b18c1 swap (Civtegrar)
any USDM same year ecu for the GSR or 99-00 civic si you will also need USDM exhaust manifold, intake manifold, you can smog a jdm motor and bar it if your state requires it.

Re: jdm b18c1 swap (Civtegrar)
if your car is a 99 and your motor is a 98 you're not going to pass. it has to be a newer motor than the vehicle. do some research ive never seen an older motor in a newer chasis pass. good luck

your are not required to change any of those. well ca doesnt and we have the most hardest bar testing in the U.S

He's not in CA guys. Yes you will be fine, 99 is still obd2a so you won't need a jumper harness. Just get the USDM type R ecu because the JDM ecu's won't communicate with the smog guys' computer.

Someone from your state will have to tell you, but I'm sure it's not as strict as CA standards. The advice you have been getting from everyone is for CA emissions, and people tend to think that is the case for the whole nation for some reason. Is there a BAR certification required for engine swaps in NJ?

I don't know about d-series to b-series engine harness compatibility, but the motor and your car are the same obd type. The swap SHOULD come with an engine harness, so just use that, then you're guaranteed not to have any problems with it not plugging up.
