JDM B16a Wiring Questions/Help
I just got done doing a JDM B16a OBD1 SIR swap into my Ek/Ej6 1998
And i trying to clean up my wires and make sure all my wires are plugged and what not so i can get rid of my CEL and troubleshoot the rest, My question is i have this two pin sensor coming out of my block(Back side) and i cant find the Sensor that's suppose to be plugged into my Thermostat housing since obd1 don't have them(As i read upon it) So where does this plug belong too since the thermostat housing doesn't have one? And what sensor is this on the back of the engine (CHECK PICTURES)
Im assuming the plug from the thermostat is suppose to be rewired into this sensor(Back side of the block) since i dont have the thermostat housing sensor? PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG OR GUIDE ME NOT HERE TO ARGUE THANK YOU!

i think you may have purchased a 1st gen b16. that is the fan switch normally found on 1st gen blocks. newer motors have them on the thermostat housing

I double checked and made sure it was the 170hp series but if it is the 160hp first gen ill be pissed but anyways the unplugged wire where the sensor(thermostat housing) i must rewire it to the back?

yes. if you look at the thermsotat housing, you should see no sensor just the housing. just cut and extend your 2 fan switch wires (green and black) to that switch and you will be good to go.

Ok lets clarify cut & extend the wires towards the back of the engine block and wire it up to those pins? And does it matter which wire goes to which? (Certified Electronics A.A.S) so im OCD about things when it comes to wiring!Haha thanks for your quick reply bro!

Re: JDM B16a Wiring Questions/Help
correct. cut the connector that goes to your old fan switch (thermostat) and extend the wires to the 2 pin sensor by the oil filter. order doesnt matter.
or you can get a thermostat housing from a newer b-series (it should work) and install it onto your b16.

Yeah that was my plan but i think it would be kinda hard trying to find the right fit since its a JDM motor (My opinion?) but since i know how to wire up maybe this route is cheaper and easier YEAH?! =]

Re: JDM B16a Wiring Questions/Help
no. all you needed were the stock mounts for the EF. swap over the bracket that the mount on the t-belt bolts to from your stock EF motor. put it on the new motor and it all bolts back in. i used to have an 89 HB DX, converted to obd1 with a D16Z6 and a 90 Si cable trans.

Re: JDM B16a Wiring Questions/Help
serieal number starting w/ 1 or 5 doesnt always matter.(yes more times than not the sir1 was 1xxxxx and sir2 was 5xxxxx) I had a sir2 that serial number started w/ a 16xxxxx ...best way to identify it is by the intake manifold, cams, and pistons. The year stamp on the head as well, but thats not solid due to head and block swapping.
