Default jdm b16a sirII t/b vs. usdm b16a2 t/b

on my swap i had the sirII t/b i recently purchased a 1999 civic si b16 t/b..i wanted it because the map was on it instead of being on the firewall and it didnt have that coolant **** on the bottom of it (i forget what thats called)..anyways i swapped the sirII for the 99 si and went to get gas and i noticed right away my car became louder and felt way more responsive..i was just wondering why did this happen? im not going crazy and i feel stupid for asking this but it dosent make sense..its the same t/b except for the tqwo things that i wouldnt think had to do with performance at all...does the newer map sensor make a diffrence? how about deleting the coolant contraption?
