Default JDM B16 - How can I block off the FITV?

Hi all,

I've done all my research, found one thread with all pictures with broken links.

I installed a skunk2 ultra series IM as well as a skunk2 alpha series TB on my jdm b16.

My problem is my FITV surging from 1k to 3k constantly, although the alpha series TB does not support the FITV.

If I cover the hole with my finger, Idle is high (1000) but no longer surges. I know idle will be a bit higher than normal due to the increase in air flow, so if I can keep it at 1000 I would be happy until I get it tuned. My question is how can I block the FITV (which seems to be my issue), as a block off plate will no longer work. If anyone has had this issue, please shed some light.

Runs fine when it is completely plugged with my finger.

Thanks! No CEL's btw.

Any idea's anyone? High heat tape maybe? Silicone? Is there a way I can block it between the TB & IM so there's no chance of tape/silicone getting into the manifold?

The skunk2 TB does not have a port underneath it. Although putting my hand over the hole creates a normal idle. The block off plate will not work as it can't be bolted to the TB

I don't think you could have possibly have gone through that entire Google search result to say none of those options work for you.

Forget it. ****.Poor.Planning. People always buying parts to be buying parts and not checking compatibility beforehand.

What car is this in anyway? You need to list ALL car information in the first post per forum rules.

I'll now edit the forum rules to include:

Sorry, didn't think vehicle mattered as it's an engine problem.

Grumblemarc is going to yell at me again, but thanks RonJ for telling me to take a picture because it made me realize the ultra series manifold is the only one which mounts the TB "sideways" which means it's more of an IACV issue.

I was going to ask. How could this be an FITV issue if the throttlebody has no provision for one?

fyi -- grumble is generally right and gives great advice, so it's prudent to pay attention when he posts.

Definitely agree. I appreciate his stern replies, encourages people to do their research and not post stupid questions. He is a HT wizard like yourself. I know the FITV is on the bottom and forgot the Ultra Series IM rotates the TB. Thanks guys. I feel like I have a vac leak somewhere now, as it should die when I plug the IAVC if I remember correctly. Although idle is pretty constant and not jumpy when plugged which is weird.

Seems as though the hole in the TB for the IAVC is creating a vaccuum leak. Checked absolutely everywhere else, sprayed propane all over the IM and checked all lines. The IACV is mounted on the rear of the IM, so it's monitoring the air from a barb in the plenum. I currently have it blocked off with a piece of gasket I cut out and some gasket sealant. I'm thinking of welding up the hole to permanently fix the issue. Runs well and idles right around 800-900 RPM's when it's warmed up. Is welding it OK? Will there be any issues?
