Re: JDM ash tray
the coin holder and cigarette lighter are switched places it seems like.
looks like a waste of money and time if you have one already, spend money on the "jdm" audio console instead

JDM ones seem a lot easier to find.
The US ones have the lighter and ashtray switched so the lighter is on the right side of the part / left side of the car.
The standard US part in that place is not a cigarette lighter. It's a 12 volt socket that all '96-'00 Civics got standard.
The alarm light would be aftermarket of course.
I have a US ashtray/lighter in my car and have the stock piece around too.

Re: JDM ash tray
hmm ran across this tread looking for an LHD ash tray.
EDM ash tray is the same as the USDM optional one, have seen it in a lot of european civics, it's also available in south america in Brazil. they are made for LHD cars so you don't have to cut anything.

Personally, if you want to go for a different look, i think the CDM Acura EL has a unique look to it with a different lower dash setup....as shown earlier in this thread. Here is what it looks like installed in a fellow Honda Tech members car

Re: JDM ash tray
The problem with the EL console is it really kills the usefulness of the cup holders. It's tight for even (what I think is) a normal sized drink. That'd be one that's small to medium, depending on the business purchased, not even the giant ones. We've had drinks explode and dump everywhere because of that console.

Who uses the cupholders anyway? Damm cup holders never hold the cups and they end up spilling. Ill never go KING SIZE at Burger King again...LoL

When we go somewhere and pick up food to bring home we use the cupholders. I don't have any problems with my cupholders unless I end up with one of those Super Fatty Big Gulps or something.
I have the ashtray but I've never smoked and no one has ever smoked in my car either. I like the way it looks better than the stock 12 volt panel, which looks naked to me.
