Default ive got a question about my 92' civic cx

ive got a couple of questions.... first i wanted to know how i could put in racing harnessess and still be able to have people sit in the back seat.
second i wanted to know how and what kind of intake i should put in the engine.
Last question is about shaving handles and antennas... what the hell does that mean?

dont know about the harness question...but your throttle body is really tiny, so to fit an intake from the dx or si youd have to stick a big rubber washer of some time to make the diameter bigger. thats what i did, got a rubber washer from home depot. aem coldair is good go with that. as for shaved handles, its usually body work where the handles are filled in, smoothed and painted as if there were no handles. you just open them with a remote that pops the door open.

1. Don't touch your CX motor...nothing will help you and will only make you look like a damn fool.

2. What do you mean by racing harness? A roll cage?

3. It's a hassle and not worth it (shaving) unless you want an all show car.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad new as well, but the stock CX motor is a pile of garbage in terms of performance.

Putting an intake on it will not increase the performance - it will only sound a tad louder.

Save any money that you would have put into moddong that 70hp 8-valve engine and plan on swapping in a better motor.

Whether you choose a D16Z6, B18B, B16A, B17A, B18C1, B18C5, H22A, or whatever it's all good except for that damn CX engine.

...And if you have any swap questions try using the "Search" function and type in key words:

B16A
B18C1
B18C5
H22A
And so on and so forth.

Oh and racing harnesses and shaving **** isn't my deal, so I won't even bother guessing.

thanks for the info, however i have a 16 valve engine in the cx that i got from a prelude.. so i was wondering if the intake would change for that case.... i know a cx motor sucks for performance thats why i got 16 valves instead.

Default hey i got another question-honda civic cx 1992

Hey i just bought a new e-brake handle and i am trying to remove the old one, i dont want to remove the whole lever, just the end..the handle...i have a manual about all the parts of the civic 92-95 but it says there is a screw to take off the e-brake handle when i can clearly see that there is not. If anyone knows how to do this task tell me about it cuz i have no clue what to do.

I'd disagree with that Tom. I had a K&N FIPK on my 1992 Civic CX, and instead of being a REALLY SLOW car, it was a "slightly faster" REALLY SLOW car. Additionally, it upped the MPG by 1-2%. Really. Honest to God.

Of course, that pile now sits in my garage floor (donating parts from time to time), but this was after 8 years and 100,000 miles of faithful, 40MPG service.

I'm sorry, run that by me again?

How did you manage that one?

Is that a mistake or do you have a mount kit or something else that you should tell us about?

If it truly came from a Prelude then you would have a mount kit in the car or some really hacked up mounts with welding marks all over them.

Can you explain this for us please?

Could he POSSIBLY have used that old B series motor from the 1991 Prelude Si? (B20A5). This engine is universally regarded among mechanics as a POS (something about fiber reinforced piston sleeves).

I also await an explanation.

haha! i had that same k&n! i then stepped up to a short stack intake and drove around in that cx motor for a few years until i had enough for my swap. no matter how many ppl told me it wouldnt make a difference, its one of those things you gotta find out and learn for yourself you know?

Besides the issue of this 16 valve thing you got going on I would like to stress the fact that racing harnesses are EXTREMELY dangerous without a roll bar installed. Do a search and you will see some pretty nasty photos of cars that rolled over completely crushing the roof. Now if you were to be strapped into a racing harness in a situation like that.......can I introduce Mr. Head to Mr. Tailbone by completely bypassing the spinal highway. AKA: Death!!!!

Oh yeah, welcome to H-T!!

Okay so what's the deal guy?

How do you have a Prelude "16-valve" motor in it?

the only one i can think of that says "16-valve" on the valvecover is the SOHC F22A Accord/Prelude S motor, and that would still require a mount kit.

Perhaps someone swapped valvecovers or dropped in a DX motor and lied to you by telling you it's a Prelude motor?

As for the explanation you all are waiting for... the valve cover was not just switched... i really do have a 16 valve prelude engine in it... THe car has only had 2 owners, me and my friends older brother. I am absolutely positive that i do have a 16 valve prelude engine in it...it does have a mounting kit. when reading your responses and i called him up, he said there is a mounting kit in it. however i am not positive about which prelude motor it is. I will call him and ask, then post the news when i recive it.

Turns out that he said it is a SOHC F22A Accord-Prelude S motor and he again clarified that there was a mounting kit. SO back to my original question about the INTAKE! a response is requested

umm, buy an intake for the motor that you have...but......depending on how the intake is made for the car the motor was originally in, the bends in the pipe may differ blah blah and you might have to make some adjustments for it to fit right, but hey, thats all on you

wow, buddy. i think you should head back to the drawing board. maybe rest a while and think about asking your buddy's brother before you contemplate self humiliation. i would recommend a swap, try dropping in a cvcc motor from 79, and plan on running an 8 valve low 11 in the quarter.
