I've got I/H/E what should I do next?
Hey everybody!
I'm wanting to get a little more UMPH in my car without dropping a new engine... a turbo.. or supercharger into her. I spoke to a friend and we concluded Pulley kit and lightened flywheel together as my next little "upgrade"
I've got a '99 Si (tho you couldn't tell cuz my Si sticker got stolen, no kidding) with:
Flowmaster exhaust
AEM Cold air intake
DC Header
I'm still a newbie wanting to learn

I should elaborate that I wasn't wanting to drop too much money either
like no single "part" for over $400 if I can help it

i wouldn't waste money on a pulley kit. as for the flywheel, don't bother upgrading it until you upgrade the clutch as well. so you know you want to go forced induction, just not sure which one. then, i'd say upgrade the valvetrain as well.

which clutch would you recommend?
and if there is a newbie FAQ I'll gladly go to it instead of bother you with "newbie" questions but I do appreciate all the input I've gotten so far

The cheapest way to make anything slow go... well.... not as slow, is nitrous.
Other things you will need with the Nitrous:
1. Good Installation
2. Proper Tuning
3. Clutch
4. Tires
5. Parts to replace **** that breaks
Face it, you are adding something that will at some point likely break/blow up your motor. Proper Tuning is key to prevent this from happening and if it is accomplished correctly you and your car will have a happy and long life together.
After that, it's up to you.
PS: A pulley kit is a waste of money unless you get it for free. And even then, I'd still think hard about wasting my time installing it.

Re: I've got I/H/E what should I do next? (DarkKnight[DMD])
grab an itr intake manifold and itr TB. I am probably selling my itr TB soon so we can hook up if you are interested. PM.
Other than what ya got you could also have some headwork done. Like cams. Maybe itr cams. I am probably going to be selling mine soon also...this is becoming a FS thread for me.
OK in summary.
Cams, TB, IM, better intake, or better header pipe, or better exhaust, or a new ECU (chipped p28 or Hondata) would be your best bet.
Good luck

For the amount of money you spend on name brand intake/header/exhaust and upgraded camshafts, intake mani, etc. you could build small turbo kit running 5-6psi and have twice the gains. Somethign to think about. If you insist on all motor though, I would suggest getting an ITR intake cam

If you want to boost just get a nice turbo kit and try to sell the header intake and exhaust but since you already have I/H/E than im sure your going all motor than you should now upgrade your head with some ITR cams and ITR Intake mani with ITR throttle body aswell thats your best bet next to get some nice power gains like evryone else said^.

Re: (brasilstreet)
a nice set of those AEM Adjustable CAM Gears
Fuel Rails,
New Fuel Injectors
New Fuel/Air ratio customizer map from Venom
New Cams,
Or a nice quick mod, some NGK SPWires and Spark Plugs
theres just such a huge list, but these are some minor things.

If I were you you...
ITR Cams
Used Skunk2 Cam Gears
Cams Install and Valve Adjustment
AEBS Intake Manifold
ITR Throttle Body or Bore yours out
Apexi VAFC
And about and hour on the Dyno for AFC tunning
This will finish all your bolt ons and give you nice gains. The next step after after all of the forementioned...get a JDM GSR Block and Cometic for more displacement and slightly higher CR.

Stock fuel rail is more then enough for most street applications, so don't waste the money. The stock 240cc injectors can support over 200whp also, so hold off on those. Personally, I would get a CTR intake cam and some gears, then visit the dyno.

Omg dont even gut the cat. It's not even worth the bullshit, especially in Cali. Since you don't want to spend that much money, you can find a good hi flow cat (random, carsound, etc.) for fairly cheap. Cams + cam gears would be a good bet (but it'll be a little pricey) and get it tuned at a dyno.

Re: (MrIllegalX)
Oh hell not...don't gut the cat. You don't gain anything from that except a loud *** sound that say..."PULL ME OVER!!!" If you wanna increase exhaust flow...do it right...buy either a carsound cat off ebay or a test pipe. With the test pipe you'll probobly get that same high pitched sound...but you'll at least make gains over a gutted cat...much better gains. With a high-flow cat...you still get great gains...but without the lound noise...plus you can pass inspection and smog.
As far as ZEX goes...I think you can get better gains out of 00+ Spec ITR/CTR cams w/ cam gears for the same price of just the ZEX cams alone. Not to mention ZEX cams are for nitrous along with all motor...so you won't see major major improvement.
If I were to do an OBD1 conversion also...I'd go with a chipped P28. Why would he go with a p72?
Another thing...do yourself a favor and get rid of that flowmaster...it kills power. It just sounds powerful. I had a 40 Series on my stealth with 2.5" custom piping...didn't see any gains over stock piping. As soon as I put a universal N1 on...it was like the difference between night and day.

He said low budget and cost under $400 a part. That would rule out about all that. Thats why I suggested the JDM GSR block...in the future when he can't get cheap power adder parts.
