Default It's About Time For a Swap

Ive been building my eg now for about 5 months, and i think it now needs a motor. ive read countless threads about how the sohc vtec isnt bad. but how would it stack up to the b18b. price to performance, which would you put into a 92 cx?

I cant afford a gsr, dont really want a sir2 b16..d16 and b18b is more in my price range also. if you could, post your opinions on these two particular engines in terms of stock performance, modified performance, potential, price..etc.

thanks-

LS??? non Vtec no turbo.. why not SiR for the money its probably the cheapest, unless you go SOHC D16.

Do you see the irony?

I wouldn't see a BIG variance power wise between the b18b and the d16. There would only be so many necessary parts needed to equal and/or lap the power of the b18b. I think this is more a question of how deep into this you plan to go. On the hand of the b18b there is the extra $1500 or more shell out for the swap, while you could place the same into the d16 surpassing the b18b (pending applications). The b18b route will offer more options, maybe you want ls/vtec or turbo, with a number of compatible transmissions to go with it. With the d16 you are at the top of the list for D series unless you plan on going the cable route. When it comes to transmissions there are not many to choose from that would aid your cause, maybe the vti (lsd equipped). I'm not voting for one over the other, I am giving options to think about. Decide how you like.
