Default ITR Swaybar moving in the bushings.

I installed an ITR 22mm rear swaybar on my 00 Civic Si back in December. Recently the bar has apparently moved off center from the bushings.

Has anyone had this happen? I loosend the brackets that hold the bushing in place and am going to hope the bar will wiggle back in place from everyday driving. I would just fix it by jacking the car up but all my tools and jackstands are being used by someone else at the moment.

Also, would spraying some WD40 or another type of lubricant keep this from happening again? Or would WD40 be bad for the rubber bushings?

Wouldn't wd40 make it slide more?

Anybody got an answer?

I put the swaybar back into place and tightened everything down and everything seemed fine. Until I did an autocross this weekend. The swaybar has misaligned again even worse than before. It shouldn't be moving in the bushings.

Has anyone had this problem?

But it would allow the bar to slide back into place as well, or at least I would think it would.

Do you have a Beaks kit?

I recently had my bolts coming loose with my Comptech 22mm bar and Beaks kit. Some of the bolts were pretty far out. I just bought some thread lock and re-tightened the bolts. I don't know whatelse to tell you.

Thanks. My bolts seem to be staying tight but I might still try that just to be safe. I just emailed Beaks so hopefully they can tell me something.

As far as LUBE goes.....

IF you are using poly bushings under the D-brackets you should always lube the bushings with that really stiff gooey silicone grease. This is important because it helps keep dirt and grime off the bushing. As soon as you get even the smallest amount of dirt in there, the constant movement from the car will eat away at your bushing. Once this happens, play will increase. This "might" be contributing to part of your prob.

I'm also running an ITR rear on my EG with the beaks kit, and haven't had problems as of yet (about 1.5 years...) - As far as play, yes, the bars will slide slightly back and forth thru those d-brackets as the car corners....

Good luck
Tom

Thanks for the advice SleeperEG-B. I knew that people do put something on the bushings but I didn't realize it was that important. Will any silicone grease work or is one better than another?

Not for me. I need the oversteer at the track and it helped get rid of some of the awful Si understeer.

You forgot the , right?

ITR or Comptech rearsway bar OWNS the stock Si bar. SleeperEGs point makes sense.

LOL. Have you seen the difference between a stock bar and a 22mm bar?
