ITR front brake conversion on an EM1
I have a question about doing an ITR front brake conversion on an EM1 (Si) civic. Most of the time I see people telling you to run Prelude rotors that are redrilled in the 4x100 pattern.
Here is the question. Is there any reason I can't run the stock rotors from an EX, Si, or a GSR instead? I realize the stock rotor might be a little smaller than the Prelude rotor. That doesn't bother me. Is there any other reason it wouldn't work?

Doesn't the ITR setup call for 4x114.3's or 5x114.3's. I guess I'm just lost on this but why wouldn't you just use ITR rotors?

I didn't know you could swap them without switching wheels. I always thought you had to. someone on HT will clear this up soon..

I know Stop-Tech sells a kit for this. I think it includes a set of machined 23T brackets and a set of their 2 piece rotors. Has anybody tried it?

Actually, looking at the Stop-Tech catalog, it seems like with their kit you can run the 23T brackets from the ITR calipers without any modification as long as you use their 2 piece rotors.

There seems to be a mix up earlier:
Yes, the 96 ITR is 4X114.3. The EM1 is 4X100, however.
What the OP wants to do is take prelude or ITR rotors and re-drill them for 4X100 so that he can still use his original hubs and 4 lug wheels.
Anyway...
I don't think that the EM1 rotors will work with the ITR calipers. The pad would hang over the rotor too far. I'm pretty sure that the brackets for the ITR/EM1 are the same. The caliper is the part that spaces out far.
What's the point of using ITR calipers with a stock sized rotor anyway? I know the pads are bigger...but it's kind of a waste of time.
You live in chicago...I live in Chicago too. This means that you can probably just ask the guy who stole the ITR calipers if he has the rotors as well.

I actually was going to buy a new set of ITR calipers. They are fairly cheap, like $130 each for a new one and 100 each for a rebuilt one. I will probably go with the Stop Tech rotors. I was only asking about the stock rotors since they are like 400 dollars cheaper.

Well it looks like it isn't nearly as difficult as I thought to redrill the 93-94 Prelude rotors to the 4x100 pattern. From what I have read all you need to do is clamp the rotors together and use a drill press. I was worried I would have to take it to a machine shop. Actually I might still do that after clamping them together. It has to be tough to drill through metal that thick.

It's very soft metal. It's just gray iron.
Use a nice drill bit. Just make sure you line them up very carefully. Maybe buy a peice of pipe that will go in the hub hole of each rotor to help you line it up.
You have to use Prelude VTEC rotors, BTW.
