Issue installing exhaust
I took off my stock muffler because it had a bad leak and just left the pipe from the header back. Now when I took off my muffler there were these two big screws with springs, I had put those aside incase I needed them but now I can't find them.
I just got in a Skunk2 Exhaust and im wondering if im gonna need those two screws with the springs on them when I install it.

Re: Issue installing exhaust
its not 100% necessary but those spring bolts keep the exhaust from leaking later on, as the exhaust heats up and cools down it expands and contracts, those spring bolts keep it clamped down during those instances where regular bolts wont. so you can use regular nuts and bolts but you might have to come back once in a while to retighten them

no, those bolts are only available on new cars, and unlike every other bolt on earth can not be bought separately.
seriously you have to ask if you can buy bolts?
YES YOU CAN
be happy!

Re: Issue installing exhaust
Actually the spring bolts also allow the piping to flex a bit. In the case of a big flex, those spring bolts allow for a bit of compression to prevent the header, piping, or flanges from cracking. I recently bolted up a new exhaust to my Ej6 and used the straight on bolts instead of the spring ones and actually ended up having one of the bolts fly off on the road due to my low hanging exhaust piping hitting the road. Went to an exhaust shop later to find out that those spring bolts serve a purpose.
