Issue with dropping revs on a '93 Civic (automatic transmission)
First off, I want to thank you guys for helping me sort out two separate issues with my Civic to get it back on the road! I've been driving it for a few days now, and everything is mostly OK (or at least as it was).
The car is a '93 Civic (automatic transmission). The issue is, a few minutes into driving, the revs start bouncing around and I have to pump the accelerator to build up speed and then keep pumping it to maintain it UNTIL, usually a few minutes later, the engine warning light comes on and that seems to clear the issue, allowing me to drive with no issues at all. It's strange that with the light coming on, the problem seems to go away.

Engine warning light=CEL. YOu need to pull the code to find out what the issue is.

Re: Issue with dropping revs on a '93 Civic (automatic transmission)
Alright, I think I managed to do it properly (had to drive around for a bit to get the CEL on) and I think it was one quick flash. I say I think because the light would stay on for 2 or 3 seconds and then quickly flash. So, oxygen sensor #1? What now? I've tried googling and searching the forums, but I'm a bit confused. Is it the sensor that's causing the issue? But seeing as it's a sensor and, by definition, it is there to sense things, isn't something else the issue? Sorry about the noob questions, I've got no experience with these things, although I'm pretty quick on the uptake, so I hope I should be able to sort it myself.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Sensors gather various types of information and send it to the car's computer (ECU), which is the brain that optimizes engine performance and efficiency. When a sensor(s) or its circuit malfunctions, the ECU cannot do its work properly --> bad information in = bad information out.
