Iradic idling problem & overheating
hey,
I have a 95 civic with a D15B7 and I am having a problem with iradic idling. The RPMs go from around 1200 to 2100 and then back down again, in a steady sequence. Not sure why it is doing this, it just started. Whenever I apply even alittle gas, this stops, but when I brake, it starts again.
I am also having an overheating problem. I cant go two blocks without overheating. I just changed the thermostat and all the gaskets, but that didn't stop anything. And now my car is leaking radiator fluid on the far right of the car, away from the radiator or thermostat. I suspect it is a waterpump problem, but am not sure.
Does anyone have any ideas about what is causing this? I would appreciate it.

Re: Iradic idling problem & overheating (noKnowledge)
My motor does the same idle crap and it is the TDC sensor in the dizzy. It could also be due to air in your coolant.

i say you might have a good amount of air in the system
remove the rad cap and start the engine...let it run for awhile and watch for bubbles or bursts

get rid of the air and reset the ECU. My prelude had a problem like that. Pulled the negative wire for a while off the battery, hooked it back up and the goofy idle was gone.

my car did that and it was my iac sensor i took it apart from the throttle body and it was frozen up from carbon buildup i cleaned it with parts cleaner and the problem was solved

properly burp your cooling system first. Do so by starting the car cold with the heater on. Let it run until the fan kicks on twice, add coolant as neccessary. Then reset the ecu by either unplugging the ecu for a few minutes or removing the negative line of your battery for a few minutes. If the noise doesn't go away then go check out your iacv. If it is stuck open then you will have erratic idle problems.
